I’m interested in hearing opinions and views regarding interlink cables between individual components in the system. Is the standard lead that come with new kit really inferior to the more expensive cables that can be purchased, or is the general opinion the same as that of speaker cables? I appreciate that the more expensive cable may have better shielding, but I was thinking more about the difference in sound quality that may exist between them.

Very sad news. She had an impressive string of quality disco tunes in the mid to late 70s. In fact, some of the best dance music ever.

I have recently got my hands on my first amp (Rega Brio-R) and I am currently speccing up cable choices and my question is;

What speaker terminations are best fit for this amp. Looking at the back of the amp, I presume the cables can go in straight in horizontally rather than having to unscrew the thread and them going in the holes on the connections points? In which case I would think bannana would be best? Or am I way off?!

i know feck all so can someone explain how you can tell if a pre is gonna have too much gain for your amp please?
I had a glasshouse TVC passive pre and had to use about 80% of the volume pot. I now have an active pre;
An XTC pre 1. This uses only a quarter of the pot and gets very loud with very little movement above that.
What do you look for on the amps to tell if there is going to be a gain miss match?
Thanks

My Mum's 502 seems to be nearing the end of it's life. Faults include display bulb gone, drawer not opening and/or closing intermittently and an increasing number of discs not read. Her inclination is to buy something new. The Amp is a NAD 3120 and the CD would ideally match this.

The catch is that the Hi Fi sits in a niche in a stone wall that is precisely 420mm wide and taking a chisel to it is not an option. Current NAD range are all 435mm wide as are Cambridge Audio. Any suggestions for something moderately priced (<£300), black, and about 420mm wide? Anything second-hand NADs worth considering?

Alternatively, how easy would it be to fix? It is not too shabby a system and I'm prepared to try but it would have to be a very simple job.
