What would you recommend.

Excellent; sharp as a razor. More saturated than my two Nikkor lenses (35-70 f/2.8 and 50mm f/1.8g). I don't seem to be having any AF issues. The build quality is not as good as the 35-70 but miles better than the 50mm. Focussing seems pretty quick.
