just went into Cymbosis in Leicester today, thought i should write a review...;)
well for a start, when i entered the shop, noticed the aladins cave, i have never seen so many proper hifi products in one room, i casualy walked in and i was not looked and snarled at (being a scruffy student) and polietly asked if there was anything i was looking for, i explained that i had seen some of their ex demo/ previously enjoyed rega cd players on their website and without hesitation, asked if i wanted to have a look at them 'downstairs' as he was going down anyway.
making my way down stairs, walked past a 'hall' of speakers, an enthusiasts wet dream, never seen so many upmarket speakers before (JM Labs, Kef reference, Neat, Naim etc) then saw the rega cd players.
i commented on the look of them and he explained that they were cast metal and handed me over one to hold, (in most hifi shops, woulnt have even got near to actually holding one lol).
he explaind that he was currently upgrading a Linn Turntable and proceded into the back room where he carried on with the upgrade. while he was doing some fine tuning to the speed and making some adjustments, he was happy to carry on talking to me for around 20-25 minutes.
he explained that he had had the same problem when he was my age, which was reasuring as he is the manager lol.
after this, wen back upstairs, explained that i might be back later and he gave me a buisness card.
overall the best experience ive had in a hifi shop! think i will go back to leicester just for that shop.
and the gear is well priced ;)

Ive had the pleasure of doing business with Peter @ Cymbiosis in the past and I agree that he is one of the good eggs!
I suspect a certain white bear might also be a fan too ;)

Who me?
On a serious note I can second everything Tannoyboy has said about Cymbiosis. There is a good following on the Naim forum but its not just about Naim, peter will give you an honest answer on any hi-fi without any preasure of buying.
He thoroughly enjoys his hi-fi, his music and talking to his customers.
Regards
PB

It looks beter inside Dave, TB, I prefered the shop with the Neat MF9's where the JM Focals are. He has a Naim 555 on show in the shop as well,

Perhaps its changed hands then. When i was a student there (ok ok this is 10 years ago now) I didnt feel terribly welcomed. Glad you had a better experience.

You may not be aware that it was under different ownership back then. It was a partnership with Peter being one of the Partners. The partnership ceased 9 years ago and Peter now owns and manages the shop. He has a good crowd with him and its a much nicer environment now with the music being at the heart of it all,
Regards
