    Hi Lindsay,

Firstly, there is no 'i' in 'Xerxes' !!

Secondly, yes it is certainly feasible to use a Tecnoarm on a Roksan Xerxes and indeed it has been done. There is a guy who only seems to post occasionally these days, who I think is a member here but also on the Roksan forum, who uses a Tecnoarm on his Xerxes 20, having carried it over from his old Xerxes. The person I'm talking about is Dexter. I'm not sure if he's posted any pics of his deck here but you maybe able to find one or two if you do a search on the Roksan forum.

The Kuzma disappeared off Max's website about a week ago, I was considering it as my first decent turntable.

I've just bought the Vpi that had been on the Audio Destination website but it hasn't arrived yet so I can't give you my thoughts.

There is a private 2nd hand one on ebay at the moment as there are P9 and Hyper.

    There's a Clearaudio Satisfy/Solution that's been on HiFiForsale/PinkFish/ZeroGain for a while at what appears a bargain £775.

The Acoustic Signature Challenger has a lot of positive press, but it's £1300 without arm and I haven't seen any 2nd hand or ex-demo on my searches.

Yes I know, I sold it to him .
I have been to MAX today, and spent a couple of extremely pleasant hours in the company of Martin, and a Kuzma S. Looks and sounds superb. Martin is one of the most helpful and knowledgable people I have had the pleasure to deal with, and also makes a 1st class cup of tea. The Kuzma went up £100 last month, just my luck.
Glad you had a good listen to it - shame about the price increase but I've heard Michell decks are on the rise to because, amongst other things, the price of brass going up.

    Are you tempted ?
As you are no doubt aware the cost of metal has gone through the roof. These price increases are understandable.
Yep, sadly I'm well aware of the large increases in the prices for raw materials. You can't blame the manufacturers for this.

Just a shame JB timed it a bit wrong. The baby Kuzma is a cracking deck and a bit of a bargain for the performance on offer.

Yes Simon I am very tempted, mind you I was very tempted by an awful lot of things I saw at MAX . I am not surprised at the price rise due to metal prices, it weighs a bloody ton. Martin really a great guy to deal with, nothing is too much trouble. JB.

I doubt if they even have a fax machine let alone a web site. This is probably the best source of info for NAS: http://www.signals.uk.com/nottinghamatsign.html
Is he a member of the Plymouth Bretheren? They are funny about computers and fax machines.
Stuart - this should tell you a fair bit about NAS and what they do.

I've visited the factory myself and foundthem a thoroughly nice bunch of people. When I say 'factory' it's more like an extended house - the tonearms are built by one man in what appears to be little more than aglorified shed. A true cottage industry and all the better for imo.

Even had a coffee in a chipped mug.
Excellent article. Difficult to beleive that they have sold 10000.

On the subject of NA decks, another one to consider is the Interspace Junior, which lookslike a very neat package for the price and includes an Interspace Arm (also a uni-pivot) as standard. Noteworthy Audio sell and highly recommend this deckand when I last visited I recall them telling me that they rate it even higher than the Rega P7, which they also sell.

As to the OL arm - yup, I've no doubt the Silver is very good but for the money it just doesn't seem to offer much. The finish isn't particularly impressive (imho) plus why buy one when as you rightly say the Tecno offers so much for less? A friend of mine uses a Tecno on a (shock horror!) LP12 which sounds just fabulous - blew the Akito into next week. A typical Michell product - beautifully engineered and executed. And it works bloody well.
    Hmmm........really?

Indeed that is an excellent little feature of the kind of slowly disappearing little cottage industry workshops that is IMO the greatest thing about England.
Even if I wasn't 100% in-love with the product, I'd still find it easy to justify buying something from a company like Nottingham, Michell, SME etc.
They're timeless and full of substance in this disposable marketing ridden age.

    Anyway enough of that

Having said that though there are occaisionally heart warming stories from the bigger outfits. Recently I scratched my B&W 805 signatures(or I should say, someone did it for me). Only shallow but enough to make me want to polish it out. I didn't know what to use an didn't want to damage them further. I emailed B&W and they told me to pop into their headquaters and I could have a chat with their cabinet maker and they will give me all the stuff I need. Polish and pads etc. They responded within 6 hours. I was really impressed with this!!

I've had problems with 2 sets of Sonus Fabers and they never answered any emails. Not so impressed.

I love cottage industries. I know it sometimes pushes up the premiums etc but its what makes all of this equipment such a delight to buy and own not to mention giving us so much diversity.

A friend of mine once called Sinclair industries and the guy on the other end of the phone picked it up and said, "Yep, Clive speaking".

    Brilliant!
