They are too heavy. Too fragile. Scratches and clicks and pops. No remote control (on 99.9% of turntables).

I have to say in their defence that I went to exactly the same shop after reading your post and bought a copy of Goldfrapp: Supernature. I got home and it was warped soI took it back and they graciously offered a replacementcopy with no hassle although I'd have to come back the following day to collect it as it was in their next delivery. I turned up next day and arrived at the counter to pick up my replacement which upon inspection before leaving the store also appeared to be warped. They commented that it had come direct from the pressing factory and that they must be stored incorrectly there or in transit. Anyway to finish up they gave me a refund, actually £4.00 more than I paid for it and I subsequently walked 2 secs down the road to an extremely local competitor and picked up another copy there keeping thr £4.00 extra I'd been refunded. This copy is still very slightly warped but not enough for the Michell disc clamp not to sort out. Anyway my point of this story was that I don't think that the original store in question was at fault, more the distributor and having said that the original store was as helpul as could be expected. I just thought I'd post my experiences after reading Chezi's post a while back on the same subject.
I got my copy of Supernature from Vivante and it is also warped but who cares - you have an Orbe by the time you have clamped it down it should be plumb to the platter any way.
I have to admit my experiences on ebay and vinyl have generally been vey good - I just assume Mint is Very good and I'm no longer disappointed.
My main problem with vinyl is storage - I keep buying too many of the damn things and I have no where to put them any more - of course that doesn't stop me from buying more.

that'dbe it then, from Musician in analogue, to digital storage, back through our systems from digital to analogue- and the vinyl format is broken. Both formats have plus and minus points, and I assume both are broken in one way or another.

I also agree that both have plusses and minusses, but one ain't better than the other, in fact as the kit gets better, they both sound very similar to me, try it blind, with vinyl rig (total inc phonostage) that costs same as cdp, and I'm thinking around £4k plus here, if you think the differences are huge, then you have a problem, or are deluding yourself.
If you don't have a large vinyl collection, then vinyl is expensive and not very cost effective, is also fiddly and frought with idiosyncracies, that TBH make it more bother than it's worth, been there, tried it, and sticking with cd from now on.
didn't say one was better than the other, but as I have over 1200 black discs i need to keep some way of playing them. And yes as kit gets better the mediums become more comparable, but its taken 20 years for the pure and perfect sound forever to get there. Now it has some daft bugger at the record companies will want it to besacd or whatever alphabetty soup they come up with (if you want a hard copy) a bloody downloads only.
