morning all, i have found a pair of Klipsch kg 4.2 speakers for a good price and was thinking about having a play with them, anybody here got any opinions? :raoflmfao:

These are the one with two bass/mid drivers and a horn for the top end

i'll be using the wadia/bel canto combo as the source and amp.

I have heard Klipsch speakers I have liked and some I have disliked. To my ears they lack midrange refinement. They do bass in spades and clear highs and are usually very very efficient loudspeakers. They go LOUD!

I think your source componants are far too good.

And midrange refinement is something I think bel Canto's do with magic, I think Klipchs will kill that.

But take a listen if you can.

interesting comments colin, many thanks, mid range openness and top end clarity is where im looking to improve things so maybe these would be too similar to what i have now. will listen with care

I've found Klipschorns to rock, though often in a slightly raucous way.

They tend to have presence and excitement in spades - definitely worth a listen as some find the presentation somewhat addictive!

Decent price worth buying if not to your taste should get that selling on, or just keep them for a rainy day

I used to own a Klipsch Reference 3 before. For Music they need warm sounding amps preferably tubes even 3 W SETs cab drive them really loud.
They have a nice horn treble and very strong and tight bass.. though the midrange is nothing great to write about.

A jazz/rock lover would like it but if you listen to a lot of vocals you may not like it much !
Transparent Speaker cable, Solitone IC, DH labs and Tara labs power , DH labs digital. Solidsteel feet of silence, DH labs Cones/squares
