in all probability the best pair of NS1000's in the country at the moment - I've done a bit of research into these since I realised they were not stock items. Turns out these are a very rare 'Jazz' modification that was run by AV Village magazine some time ago. They took are pair of NS1000's and upgraded the cabinets, crossover, internal wiring and damping inside the cabs. You can be sure that these are the only Yamaha's in the country with this mod!!

I believe they are wired with heavy duty Swiss multi-strand pure silver wire, and have some high quality expensive caps in the modified crossover.

The reason they are called 'Jazz' is due to the fact they were tuned to the ear of Japanese Jazz pianist Truyoshi Yamamoto.

To get an idea of what they go for in Japan - follow this auction:

    http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b64638047

The fact that with 5 days to go, they are already 68,000 Yen should tell you something!

Mine are in a high-gloss red finish - which is in perfect condition on the front and sides of the cabinets. The backs are not quite as pretty - but the right back is 8/10 and left back 6/10. Front and sides are both 9/10.

The drive units were also replaced during the modification - so these are essentially brand new speakers.

Asking £1200 for some stupidly rare and accomplished speakers - not decided what I'm upgrading to, or why I'm selling - but fancy a change (as always). You can rest assured that these are the best speakers I've ever heard in my life though - and will comfortably beat anything else you could buy for £1200 - guaranteed!

Biscuit - you may want to get in touch with Jezzer. IIRC, he was lusting after your speakers a while ago.

Good job you didn't get those HNE stands.

What are you going to replace the NS1000 with?

    These look very interesting.

    Pioneer S-1EX-W, with Beryllium tweetrs.

They has won many awards in Japan but you wouldn't know it!
They cost about £3600 in the UK and will probably give the £4000 Focal 1027BE a good kick in the backside.

I'm not actually too sure at the minute Jesse.

There are some mini-ART Emotions coming out soon that sound very interesting, been looking at importing some Victor speakers or maybe some Diatones, those Pioneers look fantastic though - saw a pair on ebay recently.
