Hi, I have now ordered a pair of ART DECO 8 which after a home demo was completly blown away.

My current system is Musical Fidelity KW500 integrated amp and also The Nu Vista 300 power amp(amazing power amp), before getting theART DECO8 I was bi-amping but now just using the KW500 as a pre, and Nu vista 3D CD player all wired in with Kimber Select ints & speaker cables.

I just want some reccomendation on a signifiant upgrade from what I have starting with the Amp, was thinking of classe pre & power but I think it may just be a side step rather than an upgrade, I have been advised that a Mcintosh top of the line Int will easliy out perform my MF combo? any thoughts?

    thanks

Yoda900 runs a pair of Impressions on the end of Sugden masterclass monoblocks. Having recently had the pleasure of a quick blast, I must say that the synergy is superb and it is the very best I have heard any Art loudspeaker, and by a huge margin. I'd seriously consider the Masterclass Pre/Power or monoblocks. In fact, there's a pair of pre/stereo power amps on hififorsale.com at the moment for a truly bargainous £2600. I suspect that this would spank both the MF and McIntosh alternatives you mention (McIntosh are recommended by a certain dealer that just happens to sell both, but I've heard far better synergy with Arts on the end of Sugden and top line Densen combos). You needn't worry about power with the Sugden either - it's true class A and will drive them to house shaking volumes I'm sure.

I currently use a Naim 552/500 with my ART Emotion sigs and they work better than most would expect.

However I am going to recommend having a listen to the KR Audio VA 340 which I reckon will be a winning combination with the ART's. In fact I wouldn't mind having a listen to a pair of the KR Audio monoblocks between the 552 and the ART's,

    Regards

Well in that case, heard a lot of the KR 'Kronzillas' last year and they are good , punchy and dynamic , a friend was using the 50watt set with his horns and we used the mono's at the Munich show, or what about a berning ?

Thanks for the replies but I should have mentioned that I was looking for something from the solid state stable of amps, I have been reading up on Gryphon Diablo integrated but I have never heard one or know of a dealer in London, I will need to get a home demo, any other suggestions?

My musical tastes are very broad, I listem to vocal Jazz mainly female, eagles, massive attack,RnB, and anything thats generally well recorded really.

I find it difficult when choosing amps beacuse I like the authority & slam of heavy weight amps and also the delicate & seducting sound of Valves.

I haven't had the pleasure of heairing the new big Arts, but I can't help reccomending you get a listen to the ASR Emiiter 3 box amplifier. I recently had a short session with this and it is so good i would reccomend anyone that can afford one (Can be had for £5k if you are happy to do some digging) hears one.

If you have room the Sugden Masterclass pre/monos at £2600 is a steal. Much better than the Diablo although I do like the Gryphon pre/powers ;)

Even if they are an older pair at that price you can send them back to Sugden have them fit the new Power supply caps and rectifiers (in effect a service and upgrade combined) and you would ineffect have the new monos at a 1/3 of their price

They will drive the ARTs effortlessly are sweet and open but have the b***s to rock it out with the best of them

All for the price of a midrange integrated.

Dave at Brighton Hifi is the ASR dealer for london and the south east.

Another amp is the new Luxman power amp. or there are the MSB monos. I know Brighton hifi has just got an original Kondo Audio Note Kegon power amp and a UK Audio Note M8 pre That may be the one. Depends on your budget.

Sugden would be a good choice, even the littleMusicmaster . Heard it on the end of a pair of Emotions Sigs and standards. I was not happy, not enough money

I agree with james listen to the emitter, I use one with emotion signatures and it just lets you forget about the system and listen to the music. cheers alex.

The ASR isn't a bad amp especially if you need high current delivery, but if your speakers are efficient I wouldn't write off valves.

If you must have solid state gear I'd personally have a listen to both the Class A Pass Labs equipment and the Dartzeel 108B. The McIntosh is typical US "High End" - nice sound nice ergonomics. If you want great sound you need to look outside of the envelope in my experience.
Teddy Ray's way is the right way. For today anyway.
