Jadis DA30 - setup question (probably s stupid one)

Need to call on any other experienced members to get me out of this little pickle.I have taken delivery of a Jadis DA30 amp and completed the setup. Its can be used as a power or integrated amp and this is where the problem may be.
after it heats up for a while it sounds like there is a phase inversion or something because I cannot hear
anything , very low distant sound . Quickly tunred it off to re-read the mystery of the manual
As it warms up I can hear some clicks coming through the speakers, in integrated mode it reverses the phase according to the manual but tthere is a small switch at the back which gives no clue to its use.
I want to use it in integrated mode and am still baffled if I hooked it up wrong (seriously there aren't that many permutations are there ??)

I don't know what's going on and I'm not familiar with the amp.

Can you give photos of the controls/sockets?

Any link to on-line info?

I can't locate any info online, to be honest the unusual info in there is that when its used in integrated mode it reverses the phases. The curious switch on the left beside input is puzzling, nothing to indicate what it does on the amp or in the manual

Reversing (inverting) phase is not unusual for valve amps, and it shouldn't really be audible - as long as the phase is the same to both speakers.

Do you get music at first then it dies, or are you getting nothing at all?

As meninblack says, the phase thing shouldn't make any difference at all, really.

Haveyou tried flicking the 'mystery switch' at the back? Make any difference?

Do all the valves glow once it's been turned on for a few seconds?

Once it's settled down after its initial 'clicking', does it make any noise at all thru the speakers? Music? Hum? Hiss?

Where did you get it from? A dealer? If so, then give them a call! A private sale? - then call them for advice - most sellers are more than happy to help out, as long as they haven't deliberately sold you a 'lemon' .

Did you hear it working at the seller's place, before you got it home?

Have you tried using different speaker terminals at the back - I see it has 4 sets, presumambly for bi-wiring. Why have you chosen the particular ones you are using?

Have you tried using diffreent input sockets? - e.g. the tuner input rather than the CD input (clutching at straws here, that shouldn't make any difference, but who knows?! - something is clearly being done wrong here!)

I assume you've twiddled the volume knob? Is there a 'mute' button that is in the on position?

Hey Mystic Jerry, you think like I do. Its an import from a German private seller and after much thinking the logic through I did in fact hit that little switch.

Okay, spot the donkey, that little switch does in fact link the pre and power amps, . Sorry for the premature post, breath was held as valves cooked before sweet music flowed forth. Well worth the internet shopping expedition and nervous weeks wait as it was trucked all the way from Hamburg. Its now getting used to its new home and I am sat here will a big dopey smile spread to each earhole.

Excellent news - well done.

I had similar problems just a couple of days back with a vintage Leak valve amp - damn thing didn't work when I first got it- eventually figured it out to be the way a fuse was seated in its holder. We all have these teething troubles with new components now & then.

I see you are new to the forum - stick around, it can be a fun place to be.
