Joined a few weeks ago and been lurking since so I thought I would say hello.

Love music, enjoy reading but hate 99% of the crap that is on tv these days.

Learning to play guitar - am pretty bad at the mo and can only see myself getting worse but I do enjoy it .

Cant afford all the expensive gear that some of you have but am happy (for the mo) with my amp but looking to upgrade my speakers soon.

    Off to make another brew,

    Cheers,

    Graham

Doh - just realised this should have gone in the Newbie intro thread sorry

Welcome to the jungle, sorry 'tent' GT. Its a mad house here, just stay clear of any thread with 'cable' in the title and you'll be fine ;)

As for other peoples kit, don't worry about what others have, its about the music and you. Kit is just a means to an end and I'm sure you enjoy listening to your favourite tunes with what you have. BTW, you'll find many an 'expensive' set-upwith aSqeezebox in the mix amongst the forum go'ers.

    Hi gt

    Yup, Welcome to the Tent

TV? - yes, it's rubbish isn't it - I listen to music or watch my own choice of DVDs these days and don't bother with the brain-curdling goggle-box at all.

Nice amp you have there! I had a Ming Da Chinese amp that the Icon is based on.

Speakers? You honestly don't need to pay much to get some fantastic bargains - having spent many thousands of £ in the past on the things I've now got a couple of pairs that cost me £220 and £350 on eBay - andI reckon they'd see off pretty much all of the competition at very much higher prices! Not so easy if you want to be trendy though ....

Anyway, lots of advice to be had here - all of it conflicting

    Just have fun!

Hi there! Welcome, I'm sure you'll get all the speaker advice you need here, probably more than you need and almost certainly conflicting... But that's where ears come in useful! My sympathies for being in Romford, well I suppose its a better than Dagenham (where I'm based). ;)

Welcome mate and err be prepared for a hell of a ride in here (hopefully not from SSM). Don't get too jealous of our systems, we're all bankrupt and homeless thanks to buying hifi :-)

yes agree with that , the credit crunch is good in a way so we concentrate onwhat we have instead of being jealous over other systems and listen to the music.

You know, on consideration, I much prefer emale's avatar to Matt J's.

.... and that's fairly extensive consideration when it comes to emale's avatar
