not sure if it was that one but VERY nice. fantastic midrange.
Hi,
I own a border Patrol amplifier. Mighty fine it is too. Not your typical single ended amplifier.

There are two types of music. Music I own and music I don't.

I have heard a couple and they sounded fantastic I think both where with Lowther speakers
one was Lowther own brand the other was the Beauhorns
Border even do power supplies just like Naim :naim:
These would be best speakers for that amplifier
Yuk....
are you trying to put me off?????
nothing wrong with them speakers, but with external power supply (extra) the 7 watt amps can do bass and can drive big normal speakers read about the amp being used with B&W 802's

I think Gary uses LV when designing new amps
Hi Hawk,
I like their allround ability. I like the way it performs. It is unlike a lot of valve amps. It has the midrange strengths of a good valve amp and good single ended amps but lacks alot of the weaknesses. These are dynamics and bass performance. It has excellent tonal qualities which aids music enjoyment. The amp offers clarity to the music that makes it special. The bass has clarity and drive that beats a lot of amps. Feed them with a good source and the music flows out.
I use mine with Living Voice Avatar OBXs and also Impulse H2 horns. I have also used Horning, Audionote and Snell loudspeakers.
The amp has many features you don't see in valve amps full stop.
The Border patrol has an external power supply or it should be power supplies. The amps has an external box with 3 power supplies in it. These are for the various parts of the circuit. These are choke input supplies which very few people don't use. These give good regulation & noise filtering. But it is costly. It uses inter stage transformers which can give you good drive and dynamic performance. It also uses 300B valves which are linear (& expensive ) devices.
They were devoleped with the Living Voice speakers. I understand the Living Voicehorns were used as well.
The Border Patrol amps are not cheap. They do a range including parallel single ended, push pull and two power supply boxes (six power supplies).
Hawk, they will be worth trying in your system.

Thanks for that, ill definately give it a go...
Ive had a few valve amps over the years and it was always the bass performancethat caused me to change, the mids however were to die for..
Thanks again
