Stunning as ever Mark. A real lesson in composition and the exposure is spot on. Difficult with that light.

    Beautiful shot.

Cheers - as you say the light can be awkward at dawn if you have overhanging clouds as you get a streak of brightness. Pleased with the way this turned out though as it was a bit rushed at the end. I'd given up on any real colour, packed up and then 10 minutes later all hell started to break loose. Missed a bit of it but still happy with the result.

    Superb Mark,

Did you use a wide angle lens for that? Beautiful.

Lost touch a bit, but is that still the Pentax Mark?

Seems to have the same knack as the old Contax and Leica film stuff of capturing something about the light that other sensors don't seem to be able to.

I love my Canon stuff, but whilst it is capable of being as sharp as a scalpel, it doesn't do 'light' quite the same way as my old Leica 35mm does.

There is a quality to your images that's seemingly impossible to duplicate. No matter how much I play with curves, contrast, exposure and saturation, I can't quite get that same feeling. It's almost as if the light comes from within the picture. Very special indeed and utterly beautiful.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I’m not sure you realise that what you heard is not what I meant.

I first saw the comments about this image on my ipad, and after reading the email shots, I noticed all the grovelly praise you were getting . Then, when I saw the actual image, I thought "Wow" that's my kind of image, if only I wasn't such a lazy bastard, and got up a silly-o-clock, to trudge to the mud, wet, and crap, to the appropriate spot, to wait for the sunrise, which might not appear, in shit weather, on the off chance you get the shot you were after. Been there done that . But now I am home again, and can view it properly on my 42" monitor, it really does look as good as a "Wow". A very worthy-of-praise shot Mark , you put us all to shame .

I like the bridge in blue - has a nice feel to it.

Pentax 12-24 Peter as its widest.

Still using the Pentax Rabski - using the K-5 now which is a cracking camera and ticks most of my boxes. I had the chance of swapping to full frame a few months back as I had a bit of cash. I take the camera everywhere and it gets some rough treatment so I decided to stick with Pentax and get some nice glass and a decent tripod/head. I considered I hadn't really been doing it long enough to stump up £3k+ on a new body and I wouldn't be comfortable going up the fells on a wet day with a camera that cost that much.

Cheers Jeff - think we were posting at the same time. Found another cracking location that might be nice for a sunset tonight. I can cope with these better than dawns. Did a dawn raid on the coast at Edinburgh visiting my folks at the weekend. Two dawns in a few days seems to get to me now although I'm happy with the results from the two days.
