Meridian 551 vs Audiolab 8000s English Version

Can anyone advise whether the Meridian 551 will be a significant improvement against my 8000s and what would you expect to pay second hand for one of them

I heard a Meridian CD (don't know which one) with a 551 driving Tannoy Dimension standmounts. I've not heard the original S but had an 8000lx and have heard verious other Audiolab gear both new and old including the new S . I think you'd notice a warmer richer tone with the 551 depending on the rest of your gear which I don't have any experience of. I liked my old Audiolab but they do have their limitations. These days I'd go with what I heard from the Meridian. Hope that helps.
