just bought a Pioneer A300-R precision amp (as modded by Tom Evans) ..... been after one for a while and spotted one on ebay in mint condition ... got it for £113.13 ...
have an old A-400 and contacted Tom Evans a while back to see if he could modify mine ... he no longer modifies them (he also used to modify the A400 and was renamed to the A-400 GTE
read on a forum that the A300-R precision was better than the 400GTE ...
this will replace my standard bedroom system (A400) ... just curious to see how people who have owned the A-300R pecision rate them, and any suggestions as to what cdp and speakers to use will be much appreciated (have a Marantz CD63 MKII K1 signature cdp on my main system which I will be replacing shortly, so perhaps this will match?) ... am also looking at older bookshelf speakers that will match the amp/cdp?

I've got a full monty A300-R connected to a pair of Tom's FR1's, it has worked for me for the last 10 years.
Has your's got a green or blue LED on the front?? If it's blue then it has had the full monty treatment.
