anyone who is looking to repair broken cones on the old castle range could try mike laister on 01904 761043
he used to work for castle before they went bust,he is able to re-cone any broken drivers etc.

One of my beloved Audio Note P4s has developed a wee fault: all the valves are aglow, but not a peep from it. Can anyone recommend any valve amplifier repair persons within a reasonable distance from Leeds, or should I be taking them back to Audio Note in Hove?

Update: it turned out to be a blown internal fuse! Fortunately I checked them before sending them back to AN (who were most helpful incidentally).

forgot to mention that Mick Hinton at www.davelectronics.com is the tech for none other than Mark Knopfler and David Gilmour...clients fly to him from all over to have their gear fixed. He is working on a custom EQ for me(recording gear) at the moment, damn guys a genius. Was on the tech side for DECCA's heyday! Twickenham, baby!

Western Hifi in Newport. Very nice guys, place is run by Peter who is an electrical engineer and sorted out the automation on my JVC deck very quickly and charged an extremely reasonable amount for what turned out to be a good few hours work

If your in the North West area I can give a very strong recomendation to Mike Powell . So far he has repaired my Krell KSA50 , Perpetual Technology P-3A Modwright Signature Dac , Concordant Exhilirant Valve Pre . He seems quite happy to look at most things and his rates are very good.

Depends what you want but Jenkins near Newmarket very good and inexpensive

Thanks very much. Have found a Donald Jenkins in Fordham, so assume it's him. I will give them a go. It is a for a repair to an amp - I can get hold of the parts (new input selector rotary dial and PCB) but just need someone to fit them.

Yes, that's the place - a little TV repair shop in appearance, but he knows his stuff - has managed to repair everything I've ever taken to him for past 27 years and was always reasonable - sometimes give us a fiver for the tea fund! Don't take a Krell there, though you never know!
