I might have been interested myself (it's always nice tocompare different speakers in one's system). However I seem to remember the old HFC review saying they were verygood but a little polite and laid back in character - so probably not one for rock, metal etc.

No offence to cloth ears, but I hate it when people post ebay links, I know you're only trying to do others a favour but if I'm watching something with a view to bidding the last thing I want is another 50 or so potential bidders!
Aw shucks, come now, dry your eyes Matt;)eBay has the widest coverage for selling hi fi.....I know the wigwam numbers are going up but you don't think that every hi fi nerd in the land uses this site, do you?

If you (not you, just the proverbial) bid like a plonker someone's gonna outbid you so it may as well be a wammer.

Of course, maybe I'm wrong and mods could make a request for it to stop. I don't know if I have ever been outbid by a wammer (but had a period where a certain MF lover from Wolverhampton appeared on bids....) but if I am, so be it. The price an item sells for is the market price, period.

All in my hariy-chested humble opionion

Was the HFC review not for the original Mark ones, which were sealed boxes...I think?
You go for a walk in the park one day and wheelchair ninjas, Nazis, and pots and pans robots show up to kill you. And dinosaurs show up to eat the remains. You\'ve seen the news...?

Well done that man! (Something else I've learned today).

Yes, looks like the review in questionwas for the original Contour 1.8s. Perhaps the MkII versionis slightly different incharacter - I might still try them in the future - unless of course my amplification is too :pride:

See dynaudiousa.com for some reviews on the MKII or other models.

Dyns are transparant to the sources feeding them. A rocking amp will provide a rocking sound. Wouln´t own dyns if they couldn´t do rockmusic andhave yet to hear a speaker that canequal them in this area.

    Enjoy the mighty1.1´s Notaclue.:dude:

The review is for a ported design, and the price looks right for the MkII.

200 watts per channel into 4 ohms would be a sensible minimum level. 300+ is better. ;)

If the 1.8s do anything they rock. They are very very dynamic - and with classical they soar through the highs and lows to dramatic effect. Sure the rest of the system impacts but I've used them with both Arcam and Naim and whilst the latter obviously is more vibrant their qualities are still there to be heard. When I demo'd the Naim I also heard them with the cyrus pre/monos and Meridian all very good. But they are fussy with regard to cable - the bass is far better defined and the tone is warmer with Chord Oydessy than with Naim (even with Naim electronics) or Nordost. All imo of course!

Opted for Ocos-Dynaudiosynergy recently. This cable is extremely neutral, fast, clean and detailed and I'm getting bass alienations/textures of which Ididn't think they would exist. They lack any colour, insteadjust let the Dynsto their work. Better look elsewhere if one wants thesystem tosound warmer ratherthan revealing. No harshness or coldness though, just recordings' warts and all. This cablemakesme aware that officialcable brandscolour things up a bit to discerntheir result from others. Willtry this neutralapproach for current (VdH)IC and power cords in the near future.
