My find of the year so far....very useful

Whilst trading with some of the recent Shindo equipment i've been selling i had many enquiries about the voltage.

A dude in Germany provided this contact, frankly which is gold dust.

The guy who runs this place is apparently one of the unsung audio geniuses...people are often lauded as such in the industry but normally its the word of mouth guys that REALLY do the business.

So, you can buy many many excellent parts from this company. Including, interestingly for me, extremely high quality step down voltage converters. These allow USA or japanese components to work even better than if running the 230V equivalent from UK mains.

OR, the guy can manufacture very high quality replacement transformers...even upgrading the ones from Shindo themselves. I'm thinking of having the Shindo's and future equipemt changed over to 230V by this method.

Have you found their CHF580 (£245) wooden knobs yet?! Apparently they make a huge difference And there's me using plastic ones for all these years!

"Reference" hi-fi knobs indeed....

I like their philosphies (silver, transformers) for the most part, but oh the prices.

I've seen their stuff at the German shows on the occasions I've visited them. It always looks very interesting although I've always been underwhelmed by the sound they manage to make in the room. However it is under 'difficult' show conditions.

I've never really got on with the peculiar Mantra Sound horn speakers they play but I'm always impressed by the turntable they use which is invariably fitted with one of these wooden Morsiani tone arms. It looks as though its made from an old wooden school pencil case but you can tell it and the heavy TT its fitted to are very, very good. As stable sounding as a good DD in fact!

The Goto system looks fun although they should really be time alligning the diaphragms of those pressure drivers not the horn mouths.

Is the Morsiani tonearm any good ?

I read the review on TNT a couple of weeks ago and ended up at the Morsiani site. The arm looks very interesting and the reviewer obviously enjoyed it immensely. Seems to be a good match for Michell.

How long is that waiting list ? Is it worth trying to get on it ?

Certainly from my listening to that deck & the wooden arm you could tell it was something quite special and better than it had any right to be based on its appearance!
