Jackson Browne / David Lindley - Love Is Strange

A welcome release from Jackson Browne featuring the superb David Lindley prior to their European Tour. They are accompanied by a number of spanish musicians in a concert recorded in Spain during 2006.

There's nothing really new from JB with the album featuring well-trodden Browne fayre with a more acoustic bias and some interesting 'spanishesque' arrangements of some of his popular tunes with Lindley and others sharing or taking the vocals on some songs. Indeed there is a lot of the song introductions are spoken in Spanish by Browne. There are a couple of songs featuring Browne's spanish collaborators too.

It feels much more like Browne's last two 'Acoustic Live' albums, atmospheric, warm and relaxed with Lindley's fiddle and slide/guitar playing simply superb. No matter how many times I hear 'For Everyman' or 'Late For The Sky' I never grow tired of them. The minor changes to the arrangements and Lindley's playing provide such high quality across both discs.

It's a fine recording, highly recommend to existing fans and those wanting to explore the talent of a great song-writer and performer.

Just waiting for this to arrive. JB is, quite simply my favourite artist. Especially those early albums. Still remember the first time I heard him, when I should have been studying for my "O" levels, in a long gone record shop in Canterbury,Kentin a "listening booth". Bought "For Everyman" and still love playing the first side all the way through from Take it Easy to These Days. 20 minutes of anyone's life well spent.

Late for the Sky is equally splendiferous. Fountain of Sorrow, fountain of life. It just doesn't get any better.

I'm a JB fan, but David Lindley is a genius IMO. I own all of David's albums which are excellently mastered.

The CD is partly because JB lives in Spain mostly now-or did.
Like lStanley, my youth was paralleled by his music.
And David Lindley's albums are some of my all time favourites. Always lift the spirits. Would (and do) recommend to all.
He promised to do another El Rayo X (group) CD, but am still waiting!

Off to see him tonight at The Sage Gateshead. £45 a ticket although not cheap it's reasonably comparable with leading artist concerts at major venues.

Seen JB a few times but tonight will be my first concert with the genius David L
