The Blues ain\'t nothin\' but a woman on a weak man\'s mind
Its £14K and it was launched at the Heathrow show...
Hawk
yeah and the power supply is another £4k IIRC!!!!!!
Looks more Mark Levinson than Naim though, may not look as nice sitting on fraim with differently styled Naim esoterica
Im not convinced by the looks at all, but then again ive only seen the pics. If my girl keeps her carrots down this morning i might get to see it later today!
Hawk
hmm i wonder if it does CDRW.. i notice it has 7 buttons while the cds3 has 6 ..Â* Â*wonder what it does?Â* Blu-ray?

Got to be honest it does everything very well indeed but the design of thetop loading mechanism looks too big and clumsy too me. I now its a small foible as the sound is all that matters but for £14 k i want my cake and eat it. Now the Bow stuff i saw yesterday was nice eye candy to my eyes.
First pressings son !
I hear the cd555 has the same chipset as the cds3...Â* they couldn't do better..Â* So 'improvements' come in the shape of OTT support and powersupplies... ?Â* Is there really a need for it?Â* I think it's naim's attempt to be taken seriously in a market of over-priced esoterica... Â* The people paying that kind of money for hifi have it in abundance.. why bother with a £7k naim cdp Â*when zanden, Teac, DCS purdell, phonosophie .. etc etc Â*produce machines with much higher price tags?? Â* They must be better? This way Naim doesn't look to have 'run out of steam' shall we shall? Around the sub-esoterica mark..Â* Still able to offer an 'ultimate' system.Well, good move on their part.. great marketing - albeit transparent?

Hawk - The Black Sheep!
that envy thingy looks quite interesting. there's a lot of technology in box. possibly naim's first real VFM product.
it uses a digi amp too!!Â* Â*overgrown sonic-t![]()

I like my cdx2 as it is without power supply and a lot of Naim users find are very happy with cd5 cd5i cd5x and even if they had the money would not upgrade
when a company starts offering great deals on upgrades and add another rung on the upgrade ladder I think its time to see what the next set of accounts show with regards turnover and market sharelast results I have are March 2004 they only became public last August so this years figures will soon be on line at Company House
Naim have worked very hard to get into the AV market because for Naim and all companies, there are more companies building stuff for two channel not less at present, the return of the turntable and a raft of companies doing cheap valve amplifiers. means Naim Quad and Arcam have there work cut out to keep going let alone expand
All the companies including Naim use some parts made in the far east, Naim has one hand tied behind its back by building in UK
