Got this today (late Christmas pressie). Hmmm. It's a bit slow for my taste but not bad.

Edit.Just listened to track 5 (Kecharitomene). Very nice.

Give it a couple of plays, and it'll soon worm it's way in to you..

I'm biased, but whoever got you this has excellent taste.........

Had this CD for a few days now. Thought i'd do a quick review.

This is a beautifull album, mystical, haunting in parts. I don't think i dislike any of the tracks apart from track 7 which is a little toofolky for my liking. Some of the tracks are a bit hymm-like. Track 4, for example, with the choir sounds a bit Christmassy in parts.

Loreena really does a great job of using traditional instruments and putting them into a quasi-modern style. The only bugbear i have is that the sound engineer could have made some of the instruments project more into the soundstage. You sometimes have to struggle slightly to hear them.

However this does not detract significantly from the albums overall quality.

If you like modern folk/ celtic musicthen this is truly the album for you.

Umberto, I don't know where you're based, or evenif you are interested, but Loreena is doing a small European tour in March/April. Again her first in 9 years or so.

THe only Uk date @ the Barbican on 3rd April is almost sold out (last time I looked) if you are interested check out the www.quinlanroad.com website, because as far as I know, these gigs are being advertised nowhere........

    nice review ;)

    Thanks VS.

I have to say this is one of the the most refreshing albums i've heard in a long time. Not sure i could make it to the concert though as work would probably rule it out anyway.

THe further back you go in Loreena's catalogue, the "folkier", Apart from Ancient Muse, try "Book Of Secrets", "Mask & Mirror" and then "The Visit", and then if your still interested there's "Elemental" and "Parralell Dreams"

If you enjoy "Muse", you may want to check out the back catalogue anyway..........

Well, I have had this now for two days and it is excellent. I had never heard of this artist before this thread, but I will definitly be getting more of her stuff. This album is fantastic, if you even remotely like this kind of stuff you should at least go online and sample it.

    Thanks for the introduction!

Throw a pebble in a pond, and watch the ripples spread

Glad youenjoy the lady. If you're gonna check out her catalogue, probably best to just work backwoods, check out Secrets, then mask etc..
