I have at last tracked down a used Rega P7 tt. I have a maximum of £1K for a cartridge and phono stage. I've told the dealer what my music taste are (rock & pop) and he has recomended the Lyra Dorian and the Rega fono mc stage. I also told him i wanted a really good cartridge and would improve on the phono stage later. Is this the best way to go ? I would really apreciate your thoughts on this one bearing in mind that the dealer needs to fit the cartridge as i have no idea!

the rega mc phono is a very good starter stage, and probably a fair bit beyond. It is also resonably adjustable(internal dip switches)
The only question i would ask is the treble lift on the dorian may or may not suit your ears. Try and have a listen first. (Nice deck )My system is a gaggle of essex girls held in check by a pair of Brighton Queens
