    Do some cables attenuate the sound?

    Having had the occasion to try the Van den Hul First in my system recently I was convinced that it was behaving as a resistor in the path & significantly attenuating the signal. I have heard that some other cables are deliberately designed to do this. Now am I imagining things again? Replacing it with a relatively modest copper cable was refreshing to say the least...
    Hi Fi would be so simple if the Flat Earthers had been right.

    Some VdH cables use a "conductor" made of carbon - the same stuff usually employed to make a resistor.

    Proof - if any were needed - that a lot of audiophiles will just buy any old dumb shit.

    In a word, yes.
