considering what you are trying to achieve , perhaps using the bi-wire option might be the better tool. Keep this option open
I assume ofcourse that you have eliminated all other possibilities for the problem eg: positioning, room interactions etc

For the price van damme cables are excellent

The van den hul will appear to do the job but after a while you may well realise that you lost a bit of imaging and soundstage in the bargain

There is no substitute to trying various cables
I find it difficult to guess how a cable might sound in your system - never heard the sound of those speakers


Those foam rings (focus rings) that people were talking about a few days ago might be worth trying here - if they are as claimed. Well within DIY capability.

I can report similar experiences with QED SA.

Arcam/Mission - sounded great.

Arcam/ATC/Castle - sounded great.

ATC/Dynaudio - hmmmm. A little on the hard side. Perhaps I'll try some Van Damme

I could do an ickyboy here and say check the classifieds there's some cheap van den hul going but i wont;)

I would give it a little while for your CD player to run in first as my CD33 was a little bright/harsh before it ran in. I have found ,however, Chord Odyssey (or if you don't want to spend as much use Rumour) works well and tends to be a reasonably safe bet. I thinkit generally matches most situations. The Arcam is very refined and delivers a very sweet sound in my opinion so I have found cables like Nordost can be a little overbearing in the treble and midrange stakes. Would also highly recommend the Krystal cables aswell. Not tried their speaker cable offerings but if the mains leads and interconnects are anything to go by, they'll be good.

Enjoy your new stuff, I have had several items of Arcam's, all of which I have been pleased with. The Arcam FMJ CD player is a gem aswell IMHO.

I would be interested to hear what you have been recommended speaker wise to use with your new kit as I am considering changing mine also!!

As I said earlier Paragon, the QED SA worked fine for years with my A85. It's just not right for the P1s. I will try as many of the suggested cables as I can lay my hands on!

I think that particular piece of conventional wisdom is based on the earlier kit and really is too much of a generalisation to be applied to their current products.
