     Yes

    Nissan GTR

A friend of the family invited me and my 21 yr old son to pop over to his when we was in the area,to have a look at his new "toy'
Been meaning to do it for ages,so sun was out today, called him and within 10 mins we'd arrived

He took this red GTR out of his garage that also housed a Ducati 999 (I think that's what it was),and a black FR1 thingy (you can probably tell bikes aren't my thing!)

The car did look amazing to be honest,so after a look round,he took my son out for a "spin" whilst I was chatting to his wife

20 mins later, they came back and my son was shaking his head and grinning

My turn now,so about half a mile up a country lane to a half decent stretch of road and he floors it...........DEAR GOD !!!

I swear that I've have never, ever been round country lane bends so fast....the pace and grip is absolutely fucking staggering

    Truly incredible machine.....

The pics just don't do the actual size of this car justice

In real life it's huge and as you say - one helluva machine
What does it all mean Basil ???

There's a white one for sale very close to where I work. It looks fantastic and when the performance is taken into account, it's a bargain.

I've ridden in a 600bhp GTR33, and saw the yellow 1000hp Jun Skyline doing 0-60-0 and 0-100-0 runs back in 2001-2ish. I was about 20 feet away when the driver revved the nuts off it and dumped the clutch, something that made me cringe and I fully expected to see bits of car everywhere. But no... There was just this incredible instant noise and then the car was gone. It seemed to not accelerate, just relocate further down the track. 0-60-0 was under 8 seconds, seriously let down by a poor reaction time. (I think the car had accelerated to nearly 70mph before hitting the brakes.)

I ran one them. The wife and I were in the middle of a rally. I had missed a turn and was flying back to where I should have been. Some guy in one of them pulled out right in front of me on a hilly 2 lane
So, I was on the horn and whatknot! ready to show him the "chrome horn" too. So this fool decides to go for it. Jb is Way into the "Zone" already..pushing this guy way beyond himself. That is a Fat @ss car for little roads..............then my next Clue for the rally came up Real fast and I had to turn.
those GTR's are sweet, but they are huge on a backroad

He's taking it to Donnington on tuesday for a track day and thinks he'll need a new set of tyres afterwards !
    By all accounts,they're £2.5k a set
No doubt an absolute bargain for the performance, but as the old saying goes...."You can't have champagne motors with light ale pockets"

Isn't this the car that pops up the bonnet after a sharp dint to the front end...........with an 11K bill to reset said bonnet?

Test drove one last year, and yes a simply staggering amount of performance for the money, incredibly smooth power delivery, and a rock hard ride.. You're right, and it is a large car for something so quick, so chucking it around country lanes can be interesting.. What's his servicing bills like? Tyres are bespoke, and he might need a new set of disks and pads also, if he hammers it.. But a truly monumental event car

Didn't ask about servicing costs (can't imagine it would be a bargain though),but he had a fairly serious accident a while back (parasailing),and has only driven it for 150 miles since the last service
However, because of the time inbetween, rather than the mileage he's done,it's due for another one now!
Also,he bought it from a dealer in Merseyside, and they arrange to send a transporter to collect it,service it,then take it back down to him in essex !
Apparently, the transport charge is free !

So obviously, the "bargain" bit is just the buying of it ! (relatively speaking of course)
Dunno how true it is,but he reckons Nissan lose around £30k on each one they make,so maybe they're trying to recoup that through servicing etc ?
Another reason apparently,is that if they priced it around £90-100k new, peeps wouldn't buy one as it's only a "Nissan"

I once had drive in Citroen SM -modded 3 litre Maserati engine-(owned by one of U2!) whizzed around lanes by SM expert.
15 +1/2 foot car. Was thinking of buying it, (for the sound system alone!) but that actually put me off!
Wish I had bought it though!

O.K. Not a GTR of course, but scary !
One should be sparing with ones contempt because of the large number of those in need of it.

As with so many other things, there are ways around that. And they don't need to invalidate a warranty.

To be fair Rik - he didn't say his mate drove dangerously, didn't even say he broke limits - just commented on the pace & fact it could go round the bends with a level of grip etc he was shocked at.
The lad is 21 ...... if the GTR owner is a competent driver, the lad is prob safer in there than he will be gettiing a lift from a mate in his Saxo VTS!
