Looking for a set or two in good condition for a new setup.
And wondering if anyone knows whether they are 75 Ohm (suitable for use on an SPDIF input on a dac also)?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Lorn,
I've a set of the Hitachi's that are going spare.
I found they were not as good as a digi cable as they were an interconnect.
Seriously good, I only replaced them with a Mark Grant cable costing a lot more.
As far as digital co-ax cable goes, theres a thread over on Artofsound http://theartofsound.net/forum/showt...ghlight=belden with loads of guys singing the praises of Belkin digital cable used as both interconnect and digital cable.
I have those too. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Belkin-Blue-Se...item27b6211490
They work fantastic as interconnects (though not quite as good as the Hitachi in my book), but really special as a digital cable.
Only snag is they are quite long, but I coiled mine up, so not a problem.
As interconnects you could just "braid" them like Kimber cable..which is what I did.
Happy to discuss![]()

Thanks Gazjam for the info, really appreciate your input. I will look into that Belkin cable. Looking to get a bit more out of my dac - using a stereovox at the moment.
You rate the Belkin quite well then? With regards to the Hitachi's are they still joined and in good condition. Would be interested for sure if so?
Same here. I've never noticed any difference between any coax cables that I have when used as a digital interconnect, whether they're badged as 75 ohm digital or not.
Where the hell was Biggles, when you needed him last Saturday?
Hi Lorn,
The belkin cable is very very good.
In my system it sounded no worse than an NVA Sound pipe interconnect, and that was a lot more expensive.
I got 3 of them, wanted to try a pair as interconnects but they weren't as good used that way in my opinion.
The Hitachi's are in mint condition not a scratch on 'em and still joined.
Digital cables CAN sound different, not night and day different unless your comparing to a piece of wet string, so don't be drawn into feeling foolish for asking.
Unclepunkle..
do you only read ever the first post in the thread?
bad form sir. ;o)

I have noticed differences between coax cables used between my CDP and DAC but interestingly a cheapish unbranded one i bought from an ebay shop far surpasses a very expensive Atlas cable i purchased.
Admittedly though the cheapish one from ebay has solid silver conductor - not bad for the £13 i paid for it!!!
CDP T+A Pulsar 1240R, DAC Chord DAC64 MkII, Amp Audio Note Oto Se, Speakers T+A Spectrum ADL III (modded), Headphone Amp Creek OBH21SE (modded), Cans Grado RS2, DVD Arcam DV135 + DV88-Plus Stands: Partington Heavi MkI, Soundstyle ST100
Less expensive cables "no nonsense" can be just as good or better.
Yer pays yer money...
