When some progs are 90 minutes long on the beeb you can become apprehensive. Not this .The pacing was superb. Didn't want it to end . I thought Freeman was so on the money as the sidekick.

First pressings son !
On a related note, we saw the new Holmes film at the cinema over the weekend.
Possibly not quite as good as the first one - opinions will vary - but worth a look. More to the point, I can't have my impressionable daughter witnessing Sherlock being smacked by a naked dominatrix, so the TV one will have to remain off the air at home!

I linked to Amazon but buy from Play.com for about half that price ( their link wouldn't open because of adware )

One of the funniest things about it is the one star reviews film books give it. Ignore it ! It's hillarious ! Much of it is naff yes, but it's almost like deliberately so. Cook, Moore, Milligan, Wall - all brilliantly funny in a naff sort of way.
You've probably not seen this before. I hope I've put you onto something you'll treasure.

The usual recent 2nd series creativity ...
Coincidentally, the next day TCM showed 1945 Holmes film 'Woman In Green' or whatever where Holmes walks on rooftop/water, and Moriarty dashes off roof to terminate on ground.
The character we saw on BBC Sunday's show at ends was a ghost. It was 10 years before Holmes reappeared in Conan Doyle's time.
Watson takes over in 3rd series, and at long last it is shown he was married to Mary.

The Peter Cushing and Brett ones are super also.
I laugh at all of you wasting dosh in flix to see useless non-smoking pipeless twat/buying on digital discs.
Enjoy.
Next thing, Avengers won't be about John Steed-Emma-Purdey etc.
1984 NEW/BOLLOX SPEAK.
