If you're reading a thread I've created it's probably to do with something breaking or not going to plan again.

Also experiment by applying the same freezing/slow defrost process to such as batteries. Again have identical batteries. For experimental purposes the batteries used in remote controls are an ideal battery to use. If the remote control takes two batteries, then you require four identical batteries - two to be put through the freezing/slow defrost process, and the other two to be left as the control ones (non treated). After freezing two batteries, insert them into the remote control and listen to some music for a short time. Then replace the (treated) batteries with the untreated batteries and see if you can listen to the same music with the same pleasure as before !!
    Now that, is mental!

LOL - Belt's "tweaks" combine the power of suggestion with the fact that many audiophiles seem to suffer from OCD.

He has this in common with the rest of the tweak industry. In reality it's no more stupid to assume you will get better sound from a paperclip on the curtains than from an "upgraded" USB cable, but most people will easily fall for the psuedo-sciency marketing bollocks spun around the USB cable. Because they're idiots.

To truly "hear" Belt's tweaks you have to be a special kind of idiot.

I stopped reading the hifi press (HiFi Answers mostly) in the 80's when Alvin Gold and Jimmy Hughes ( in those days using his full name of James Michael Hughes) were extolling the benefits of pinning up curtains and putting slips of paper between pages of books

If you believe any of this I have a pure pass through pre-amp I can sell you.

Its a box without connecters that you pass your interconnects through

You can build your own for 0p out of a shoe box, or I can build you one for £5000 oer interconnect

Pete, PWB is a beaut ain't he lol! What a tosser, a guy my brother new years back used to do all the tweaks, crepe paper under half filled vases, bits of kit kat wrappers in the middle of doors and windows etc, he even went so far as to turn around his speakers so they were facing the front corners of the room.

Course my brother being the way he is told this guy there is a due to be published tweak that if u reverse hang ur curtains the denser lining of the curtains absorbs first reflections better, low and behold on his next visit dopey had done it! 'ah yeah, I can see what he means, I can hear the difference!'

Fair doos tho in one respect to PWB, if people wanna believe his nonsense then let them, he ain't gunna say no to the money is he

I still have the PWB brush given away by a magazine in 198X. Works really well for removing dust from small buttons...now what was it supposed to do?

Surely it's to remove your belly button fluff before listening - it will obviously make the sound clearer. I know "removing a veil" is a tired cliche, but it really does work.

Ah right! Button..belly button...makes sense. I recall some guff about wiping the brush over the loudspeaker cones, and that would energise them with organic energy or somesuch. Cleaning out one's belly-button make so much more sense.

I used to like those little black pieces of sticky paper that you had to stick on records, turntable arms, cartridge headshells, in fact everywhere! It was great fun and whiled away many a rainy night. Of course you knew it was never going to work, but you had to try it, just in case it did!
So much music, so little time.....aren't valves brilliant!

The lines start to blur when we discover that something we all though was insane actually has some truth to it.

If you'd said a few years ago that moving your curtains could make a difference then the foo-fighters would have crucified you. But we now know, through room measurement, that there is a substantial difference between a big expanse of glass and a big expanse of glass with curtains in front of it.

Mind you, Peter Belt is still a cock.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but Iím not sure you realise that what you heard is not what I meant.

I've been passing my evenings in the last week re-reading my Wireless Worlds from the 1970s. There was a lot of mention of room acoustics, the effects of soft furnishings and curtains even then.

when I got married we came back to the house after the church bit and had an hour or so to kill before the wedding breakfast. We decided to chill out listening to a few tunes, about one side of the record was over I flipped the disc whist my wife got changed into her normal clothes, we then sat down for the second half of the album without the benefit of all the wedding garb absorbing the sound - we were both convinced that the improvements were huge - it was like removing a veil
