anyone know what the overall density of lead shot is ?

In short what will be the weight per cubic meter or such like.

checked with a chap who does granite today - four pieces of granite 15 cm by 42 cm and 3cm thick , cut and polished quoted at £120.
will also need few holes drilling in them £6 per 8mm hole.

know it ain't easy , need a diamond drill yada -yada - but still quite expensive I thought.

know anyone who can be of help?

If near leeds - all the better

solid lead is 11.3 tonnes per cubic metre

I don't imagine small lead shot will be significantly less. Maybe 10 tonnes per cubic metre?

the smaller the shot the closer to the actual density you will get.

anything under 2mm should hit about 10gms/cm3

It could be fun I thought lead shot had been banned 'cos it dangerous to animals and stuff, no not 'in flight' as it were, but when its spent and on the ground.

And yes, it is available for boats still. You making speaker stands or a turntable?

An alternative to lead shot are iron filings, i have my speaker stands filled with it and compacted it can be very dense, most engineering shops will give it away or charge very little.
The stands have a lot more mass than with the silver sand they had before.

Those one-off brass proto types you did for me to experiment with are the dogs dangly bits. I could do a 3 page essay in triplicate just to explain why they work so well.
If I was a dishonest chap I would ship them off to China and have them copied by the shed full. Could have make me a nice little earner;). Dunno why you sittting on that when the market is screaming for actual solutions rather than snake oil as so often found on the net and hifi mags.

Stan, if you mean the spike cups there are lots of ebay sellers who have the cnc lathes to knock them out by the shedload, my old machine is all manual, and each one takes too long to make any profit.

I have tried a few of them so I wasn't expecting anything from yours other than not to damage the wooden flooring. I think it's the shape you use and also highly likely the source of your raw material. Shame you can't compete with a hand made speaker and acoustic specific product. I prefer bespoke solutions and I appreciate you took the time to match them to my speakers. Perhaps you are selling them for the wrong speaker market. Gold plated with a diamond rest point and individually engraved with your signature. Now that's a new idea.

speaker stands. I also want to tilt the speaker forward by a few degrees hence need some weight in the base.
