Vale of the White Horse Bake Off

Well, I will be moving into my new flat next month, and fancy having a bake off to celebrate, as I now will have more room

Thinking mid May time. Saturday 19th May/Sunday 20th May

I feel I should host one to give something back to the 'Wam

I will have just the one system (now), the main system will be in the living room, with the Luxman TT, Kolts and AE2's, CD850 and either AVR200 or TA-F670ES (as power amp) and
Welcome to bring any kit, although nothing too big as its a 1st floor maisonette and high volumes are off the agenda.

There will be space in the spare room for a small system, but its very small, and I dont really have any spare kit atm, as the Kolts are doing very nicely IMO in the living room!

    System by hoopsontoast, on Flickr

Any takers? It will be in Faringdon, between Swindon and Oxford just off the A420 so quite easy to get too from the South (M4) or the North (A34/M40)

Plenty of parking, BBQ and reasonable amount of room to house people for the night (if you dont mind kipping on the floor!)
Room for 5 people I think.

    So far I have-
    Richard (RichG)
    ValveBloke
    Henry (CableMonkey)
    Dave (Clelseadave)

"One under each arm?" I could just see me struggling with a pair of Crown DC300a pwr amps...............and my IAS speaks as well.

Me too please, if there's room. I'm local-ish so shouldn't need a bed provided I can reconcile the drinking and driving (i.e. only doing one or the other). Incidentally if there's any stuff you're looking for just let me know. A vintage valve amp or two perhaps ?

Just an update, if anyone has anything interesting amps wise that would be perfect, see how it gets on with the AE2's!

If people want it, I can order in a 20L/40L poly-pin of beer, we have two local brewery's (Faringdon Brewery/The Swan Pub just over the road, and the Lechlade Brewery just in the next village)

I can bring the Radford STA15 if you'd like to hear some valves (or I've got a load of other valve amps, some rarer but none better frankly). The STA15's rated at 15 Wpc but it'll do more, so it should be absolutely fine with the AE2's (90dB/W ?). It'd be interesting to hear it with the Kolts too. I know they're nominally only 80dB/W but, as a few people at Scalford said, the Radford's fine with the JR149's (nom 83dB/W) so it could well drive the Kolts adequately in 'a small spare room'. I should probably lash up a volume control (pot in a box) too I guess. Interested ?

    Hi Rob,
I'd be keen to come along too if you have space. It's reasonably local for me. Be fun to hear some AEs again.
Would gladly bring some kit if you fancied hearing a bit of DIYed stuff - I've a nice hybrid (fet/valve) phono pre that should work well with the Shure.
    Cheers.
The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.
