I think I have everything I need. It's just a matter of getting everything in the right place, and in the right order!

There are some wonderful words on the paperwork supplied with the cartridge:

"You are allowed to remove briefly the stylus guard and gloat over your jewel-like new acquisition. We respectfully suggest you do this while the cartridge is still secured to its box. [I forgot to mention the stunning, gorgeous, perfectly made polished wooden box the cartidge s shipped in.] When you feel temporarily adequately fulfilled, kindly refit the guard very carefully, leave it in place until further notice, and follow these instructions implcitly."

Oh. That's OK then. At least I don't have to ask permission!

Now all I have to do is try to recall how to align the cartridge...

We can just about wrap this one up now. Just about...
The cartridge is fitted to the arm correctly, and beautifully aligned courtesy of a most eminent member of this forum.

We did experience a problem with arm height... The Tabriz Zi has a dangle counterweight which was fouling on the head of one of the dome bolts used to secure the arm. We've got around this by <ahem> using a 2-bolt fixing, but I'll look into some spacers to go between the headshell and cartridge which will hopefully mean the arm can be raised a few mm. I had some carbon fibre isolators somewhere so I'd best start looking. Of course, this means the alignment process will be revisited - let's hope I was paying attention! - and perhaps I'll be needing longer bolts, which will also need to be modified...

Regardless, it sounds superb and I am very happy.

Or use countersunk bolts on the arm plate.

it was sounding rather lovely (at least once the speed was adjusted, lol). Interesting deck!

For those that haven't seen it, here it is in all it's glory.

The speed issue was a bit bizarre. Power is supplied to the TT motor by an Origin Live PSU, something I know has divided opinions on here. Playing some old standards - OK, Blue Raincoat - it sounded fine. Swapping to a 45rpm copy of Rumours, and it was obviously too slow... Hmm. And so was another 33rpm record.

Anyway, score one for Origin Live because the pots on the back of the PSU are easily accessible and normal service was quickly resumed.

I had a similar problem when fitting a London Gold/Deccapod to an RB300. The Deccapod takes 6BA screws which were a little tight into the headshell, so careful filing of the threads with a jeweler's file eased the problem. 6BA tend to be 102-106 thou, 2.5 mm 95-100 thou.

Have you tried Westfield Fasteners (http://www.westfieldfasteners.co.uk) for screws/nut/bolts. You can order just one or two if you want rather than the 10 million bag full from that orange coloured diy store?
