From now on if my comment can be expressed in the form of a tired internet meme or picture.
So it shall be done.
The article isn't quite accurate though - he was hospitalised, and then contracted pneumonia.
The story behind this goes back to last November and and the SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas where he met Linda Vaughn, Miss Hurst Golden Shifter and a lady well-known for her significant assets. Shelby was most definitely a breast man and during a hug with Vaughn, a bug Vaughn was carrying was passed to Shelby. That caused him to require hospitalisation.
It'd be crass to say he was killed by a large pair of breasts, but that would certainly be a fitting final chapter in a great and colourful life. Or as has been said elsewhere, it's ironic that a man responsible for so much automotive greatness should die in a motorboating accident.

I dont mean this irreverently, but I can just see a supercharger intake on his coffin lid.
Wonderful character, sadly missed. Few people like him around.

I drove mine for 3 hours today.
RIP Carroll.
Really looking forward to attending the 50th anniversary of the Cobra at Watkins Glen in June.
Once had a drive in the passenger seat of shelby cobra circa late 60's?? Never been so terrified/exhilarated in whole life. And one of the most handsome cars ever made IMO. Sad loss.
WTF are 'incense owls'?
Definitly one of the breed that does not exist nowadays.
RIP Caroll.

Shelby is the man resposible for my love of all things automotive.
I had posters of his GT40s on my bedroom walls for decades.
A sad loss but what an exceptional life he led.

June 7,8,9th we will be in Watkins Glen for the 50th anniversary of the Cobra. I love it up there. Praying for No Rain, because it is 250 miles from my house.
Driving my car on a busy highway in the rain is dangerous at bestkind of like driving on ice with 550hp
