Thank goodness I was able to miss it for first time since 1970 (Dana lovely win), as wife watched Azerbaijan Norton show downstairs whilst I fell asleep upstairs having watched fine Ashley Young goal.

a) Engelbert song - a 10th rate ballad - was probably best song.
b) I have heard winner - absolutely appalling electronic shite in middle where nice acoustic should have been - Euphoria my arse.

World needs UK to pull out/start World-Universe music fun-comp annually. Father Ted 'My Lovely Arse' said it all.

I have to agree, I'm afraid. The Hump was not at his best.

And there were IMO a few quite good songs, for a change.

I personally liked the Estonian ballad (a bit too much like a Lionel Richie offering perhaps), the Croatian, and the Moldovan offering was a bit of fun.

Certainly we had a good family evening, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

If it had just been about talent, then he probably had the best voice of the night. I thought Ukrainian singer had a quite a voice too but she didn't seem to impress anyone else.

I didn't get the Swedish one at all.... probably because her "interpretive" kate bushism put me right off!

Alan - certainly the Ukrainian girl had a good diva-type voice. And their use of the dancing figures on the screens behind them was good too - but she was let down by the quality of their song, which I thought was poor.

There were other little highlights - the Malta song was dire, but we loved the 'shoe-dance'. Both my little sons have been trying to do it ever since, and my 7 year old almost broke an ankle yesterday getting over-enthusiastic in his practice of it!

Macedonian woman and Lithuanian masked-man were talented performers also - Spain, Azerbaijan, France, Germany all had some merit - so overall it was much more open as a competition than most years.

I didn't personally get the Swedish song either, but my eldest son assures me that he has been dancing to it in clubs down town for months.
