Think you need to spell it out, Leonard (and Drummer John).

A SPUR must, by definition, be taken off an existing circuit (ring, radial, w.h.y.) Ergo, it can only be dedicated by dint of only feeding your hifi (which is not the accepted meaning).

A RADIAL CIRCUIT, as its name implies, radiates out from a point source (e.g., the consumer unit) and is therefore a single circuit dedicated to the single mcb or rcbo safeguarding it at the c.u. Many countries adopt this domestic method.

A dedicated RING MAIN rather falls into the first category, as it's a compromise. Pure hifi dedication is one radial per piece of kit, of course.

Anyway, I thought that mains related topics were verboten, or are there shades of grey?

Cyclopse says separate mains rings are best. In fact Lars of Nordost recommends separate ones for analogue and digital.

I guess you use mains patch cords too. Mains is the lifeline of the system and needs careful attention to get it right. I use valhalla mains cabke from my sonic link silver unswitched mains sockets. The last couple of meters are so important due to resistance. Only with 32 amp lines can you allow a system to run free and have true headroom.

I had one fitted last year, separate run from the main fuse box to 6 unswitched MK sockets, hasn't made and difference to the sound of the system in general although I used to get a slight bit of hiss from my tweeters when nothing was playing and your head was under 1 foot away. This has now gone.

Only cost 180 and its one of them things that I don't have to worry about, whether it makes a difference or not.
