Buying a new amp tomorrow ;-)

I swore I said I'd never replace the Croft Series 7, I adore it to bits and pieces. I'm not as such, just buying something to compare with it, taking my time and then deciding. This is a great obsession !

Sorry, this is clearly an 'I want attention' thread !

It has two valves, is a power amp, gets warm but not hot, is current production and not old iron and I get it this morning . It doesn't look much, but then again neither does my current power amp !

Warm enough Leon :-). And predictable on my part.

A 7R has popped up used. I'm not 100% convinced I'll like it more than the 7 on the very simple premise that I love it so much. Anyway, I'll be in the very fortunate position to be able to find out in as much time as I like. Either way one will eventually stay, and one will go...................unless I have the 7R converted to a mono and the 7 to the same !

Right, to the M1, Costa Coffee and Croft. Be right back......

    Cheers Simon.

It's plugged in, good job it's heavier or else I wouldn't be able to tell them apart ! It's actually the one I sold a friend when I'd just bought it as I needed to free up some cash and we did a px deal. It's probably had less than 30 hours use so needs bedding in I feel (I do believe in component burn in but have no wish to open a debate .

Took my daughter for the trip and she came away with a stack of vinyl he kindly gave her so she's happy too.

    So, time and evaluation !

That's cruel Simon. The man has just bought new toy and you're already encouraging him to upgrade

Good choice Ian. Totally agree on the burn in thing. I took delivery of the 7R monos last week. First 48 hours it was polite, little bright, lacked dynamics and little bass. Kept wanting to turn the volume up for more. 100 hrs of burning in and wow!! Warm, big soundstage going outside the speakers, deep powerful bass suddenly arrived. Same experience with the 25RS preamp as well

Oh did I mention the 7R monos are awesome? Me bad....
