    Record cleaning

Just bought a few vinyl-related bits second-hand, including a Knosti Disco-Antistat, a rather basic manual record-cleaning device. Tried it out on one of my oldest pieces of vinyl, the Hugh Cornwell side-project Nosferatu which I bought new in 1979. It's sounded a bit noisy lately, I figured that was just what 34 year old vinyl sounded like...

Bloody hell! It's a different record. Plays like new. In fact better than new, because in 1979 I was using my parents cheapo Sanyo music centre. Still a bit of surface noise between tracks, but the disc has really come to life.

Recommended. Now to do some more ...
Neg Rep for sale - £10 a shot.

When I had one of these John I never let the globules of liquid dry.I waited till most had gone then cleaned them off with a cotton wool bud.

I noticed on some occasions there was some noise when the stylus went through a dried globule(if that makes sense)and that would be more noticeable(obviously)between tracks.
Its a brand new Kookaburra son.

For the money I think they are pretty decent. Better than ethanol and a cloth.

I think you and I should go halves on a proper one, John.

Good value for the money. Following advice on other threads I now do a second brief run just with distilled water to rinse them off and help prevent the oft noticed residue from being a problem. My entire record collection, some of which dates back to the 60's, is slowly coming back to life.
