I think the level of advertising we have is fine and probably found our own level. Of course in effect we are free publicity are we not? In fact even when a particular brand is getting a drubbing the increased profile must be good.
It isn't. But prior to entering the french den, I had read two professional reviews (one whose author posts on here) which praise it to the highest heavens and how you can never tolerate the sounds made by a cheaper DAC once you've heard the DAC.Well, the DAC is armed with great pace and timing in the Naim tradition but as far as I was concerned it didn't justify me spending two grand on it. More disturbingly I heard less fine detail retrieval from it compared to the M-DAC.
More funny-ling, I found I could still tolerate the sound of my DACs when I returned from the demo.After this mag-hype-and-demo-let-down, I'm with Mr Cat --- not buying any more issues of hifi mags for a long time.
