Nice photo, it's great to hear that you are getting 'hooked' on taking photos. It's great fun.

I love the 'bokeh', I was a bit daunted at 1st but the Canon is pretty easy to use once it's been in your hands a little while.

Hi Jack, One thing I did at first was take a shot in auto, then looked at the shutter speed, f number and ISO, then I switched to AV and tried to take the same image at the same shutter speed, f number and ISO, then switched to manual setting and tried to reprodue the same again. It sort of made me understand what the camera does automatically that will become second nature to you. It is great to see what affect the apeture has on the shutter speed when going just a few stops down, say from 1.8 to 2.8, this is the great thing with digital cameras. Apparently there is loads of rules like the rule of thirds, and other stuff, I say sod that and just start snapping away paying more attention to the basics of shutter speed and ISo etc.

Just enjoy and make sure you get load of pics of the family to treasure.

    Nice one Jack!

Be careful though, cameras & making photographs is bloody addictive! I'm spending more time walking the streets looking for an image than listening to the HiFi

Get a copy of "Understanding Exposure" By Bryan Peterson, great book IMO! Read a chapter then take some pics. It's great for explaining the exposure triangle & loads more too!
