Flash / Youtube etc - help needed !

This is doing my nut in !

Flash videos and that means principlally Youtube, all play for eleven seconds then freze. I can click further along the progress bar and it will resume playing from that point, but only for another 11 or 12 seconds. I've tried a Flash annimation site to see if it's just Youtube but no, it does seem to be to do with it being Flash.

I've gone through the obvious things, listed below, but the problem continues. Feck me, the thing I hate about these things is that they can be sooo open ended and it's taking up my time.

    I have :

    - Updated XP
    - Cleared out cache
    - Used C-Cleaner to clear out cache of everything
    - Done a full Kaspersky virus scan at the highest setting
    - Deleted Flash Player using the Flash Uninstaller
    - Installed the latest Flash Player
    - Tried using Firefox instead of IE and using a new Flash install in that
    - In right click settings on Youtube, unticked Enable Hardware Acceleration, to eliminate the GPU as culprit - no effect
    - Phoned the ISP to check for traffic management ( none ) and any other issues ( none )
    - Checked speed - just under 4 Meg, but all clips even at 240 all stop at 11 seconds. Not buffering, just a halt. Again, can resume, but only for another 11/12 secs.

    BIZARRE !

Can anyone suggest anything else to check ?

Yep, three restarts and as I said, cache clear outs too. See list above - done most obvious things.

Could it be that YouTube knows of your standing and thinks that 11 seconds is all you need to make the ultimate decision for us?

The only thing that appears to be missing from your list is possible firewall interference, just on the basis that it covers network traffic and would affect all browsers.

Might be worth trying booting up in Safe Mode With Networking (F8 on boot) and seeing if that makes any difference.

Do a big turd inside your computer's casing. Then pop outside and give it away to a passing pedestrian. After accepting their gratitude, go back inside and order a new pc on your smartphone....

I'll certainly try that, but I hadn't changed any setting in Kaspersky and the levels of security and privacy in Windows weren't all that high. Of course it might have come about as a result of an auto update in Kaspersky, but then, I didn't notice any chatter about it when I Googled likely words and phrases timed back a week.

Yes I got the latest Flash.

By the way, I found something else. I said I could make the clips play another 11 or 12 seconds by clicking further along the progress bar , which is repeatable, but now something else I find makes it advance. If I change resolution after it sticks I get another few seconds variable, then say I change from 360 to 480 it does this and then it sticks then I change say 480 to 240 and again it plays a few seconds and sticks. Again, quite bizarre.

I once again used the Flash Uninstaller, this time a fresh copy of of it. I verified Flash wasn't there any more in my system. I got the latest Flash Player again, this time saved it to Desktop rather than running it straight off and closed the browser. Ran it and it said install successful, it took me automatically to the page on Adobe.com with the default Flash annimation, which showed it working ok.

    Everything should be fine.

But it isn't. Same problem persists.

I tried running a Youtube clip with Kaspersky off. No difference.

    Thanks.

I tried looking for these files, couldn't find them in the folders mentioned.

I thought, ok maybe somethings missing, so I ran sys /scannow to do a file check and popped in the recovery disc to let the system read off it. Bizarrely it asked me to pop in disc 2, which I never had ( might be they provided the wrong blooming disc - and the company no longer exists - duh ! )

Anyway, abandoned that and decided to get totally fresh IE8 ( IE8 is all you can go up to in XP ). Wiped out Flash again of course, uninstalled the IE8 , restarted, put in the new one, restarted.
Went to Adobe for a fresh copy of Flash 11 and again the Adobe webpage indicated Flash was working fine.

.......... But then checked it out on Youtube etc, and AAARG it's still halting at 11 seconds. Can still resume as before but only clicking a bit along the progress bar repeatedly in short views, or by altering the resolution over and over till I've seen the whole clip.

How the hell could a totally fresh browser and install of Flash keep doing the same thing ? This kind of nonsense gets right on my tit to say the least !

I've tried "disable hardware accelration" and also Kaspersky says the PC is clean and that was at highest scan settings.

Have you considered that the government may be doing this because you are getting too close to the truth about the moon landings being a hoax? To me, this is a distinct possibility. The whole things smells very strongly of MI5. They are always messing up my YouTube.
