    Mostly jazz festival

Sat in a sunny field in Birmingham with the Neil Cowley trio just having left the stage to great applause. The Family Stone funked the place out last night and Fred Wesley followed by Funkadelic is this evenings' line up.

I loved "Husk" this afternoon, four guys from birmingham conservatoire playing some great jazz metal fusion. Zoe Rahman also had a great set.

    What a great weekend.

    Bugger!
I'd meant to go but forgot completely.
Must start taking Gingko Biloba again.

Soweto kinch just finished a great jazz hip hop set. Not familiar with him despite his recent acclaim. Very good indeed.

Saw the Neil Cowley Trio for the first time last Friday as part of the Glasgow Jazz Festival (didn't get to the Soweto Kinch Trio who played on the Wednesday).

Really enjoyed the gig. Great energy and commitment from them but they also like a laugh and don't take it too seriously.

Credit also for staying behind to meet all the unwashed punters. Queued up to get some CDs signed. Not for me though. No, they were ... err... for someone else or something.
'Why do we always come here? I guess we'll never know. It's like a kind of torture to have to watch the show.'

I've only seen him once before and they were wonderful for an hour. They then became so stoned on the spliffs that were being sent to the stage that the last hour became a psyched out jam session........................................... .......even more wonderful! As soon as "I Bet You" rolled out as an introduction we were all in P Funk heaven.

Nice to meet a fellow funk fan. The Family Stone played on Saturday night and were superb. The three original members; Greg Errico, Cynthia Robinson and Jerry Martini are clearly very keen on protecting their legacy and are aided by some other stellar musicians. Tight as a gnats chuff!

Seems like we should get together. Chester/Shropshire doesn't seem too far apart for a love of funk and meaty Canadian Power!
