As for the Chaconne, I much prefer it on guitar than violin. It's lovely and all on any instrument but for me it lives on the guitar in a way it doesn't anywhere else:

I picked up Vol 2, with the Chaconne. Actually, it's quite interesting and gives a somewhat different view on the whole thing. I am pretty sure the violin part is unmolested.![]()

Btw I went to see Rachel Podger play some partitas and sonatas by Bach. In the first half she was pretty shockingly poor and played without confidence - at one point she even stumbled in a phrase - but the second half she was on top form. Still, I've never heard a top violinist play so badly before. Shocking.
