I stumbled upona website advertising ICEpower amps direct from the factory in Denmark. The eAR 1001-REF (1000w into 4 ohms) is listed at "Sale price" 840 euros each. Seems similar to the bel canto ref1000's but a lot cheaper, even with postage and import duty (not sure what that would be from within the EU)

Anyone heard of Acoustic Reality from Denmark - not sure if it is allowed to post a link to the website, so I won't but it's easy Googled. I cannot find much info on them, other than reviews on their own site.

You can put a link on here no worries. There will be no import duty within the EU.

Never heard anything about them though!

    For a direct conversion:

Live rates at 2007.07.09 18:23:05 UTC

    6,249.00 DKK = 567.774 GBP

    ---------

So £1140 for a pair of monoblocks (plus VAT?).

The equivalent Bel Canto's are £1699 each, so £3398 a pair.

Getting something more or less identical for one third the price would seem entirely sensible to me. Tempted to try it myself as the first switching amp I'd try at home.

Indeed you don't need a remote when there are no controls to operate

Hmm not quite so cheap after all, they'll charge around £1300 delivered including a 5.75% cc fee, and 112eur shipping charge....

Sorry, no I haven't. They should be very similar to my monos - so from my biased point of view they offer good value.
