Mine were very close but now 300mm with no surrounding.

Its chalk and cheese. Like buying new speakers.

These speakers are proof of the old adage that an engineer can do for five bob what any damn' fool could do for a tenner.

It is a joy to see that clever engineering can produce such excellent results without using expensive exotic materials but just being knowledgeable and clever.

(confession of bias: my mate is Karl-Heinz partner in Fink Associates so was involved in the design).
If there is a clearly audible difference which does not show up in your measurements, you are measuring the wrong parameters.

Have you heard them yet? You are talking about the concept 20 yes? If so how do they compare with the 2020i?

Q recommend a minimum of 200mm from rear wall and 500mm from side walls for 2010i. I find mine work best at 300mm from rear wall in a 28ft long room.
They're stunning on the end of SBT/VDAC mk1/Cyrus 6 and stood on sand filled Atacama SE24s. Also very happy to listen to them with uncompressed ALAC from ipod touch into Pure i20 and Trends 10.1 t-amp.

As this is a rear ported design; what is the minimum distance away from the wall they should be placed?

What distance do 2020i owners place their speakers from wall?

    Cheers.
Use mine about 3 and a half feet from the rear wall, about 2 feet in from the sides
Life's too short for boring music !

I have heard some very positive comments today from a dealer who has them in stock.
He said they sounded a lot more expensive than they should.
I asked if they were just a better 2020i and he said although he had not done a direct comparison he believed they were quite a step up.
Other comments were 'Smooth and controlled' and 'their own stands are essential and add a mssing warmth'
Personally I would try them on my own stands first before paying the £200 for the Q Acoustics stands.
I was just about to spend quite a bit on another make and model but I am going to actively put these on the list and try and demo ASAP.
    Hope this helps.

    For what itís worthÖ.

The latest issue (June 2013 number 372) of Hi-Fi Choice gives the Concept 20 speakers a 'five star Editors choice' rating.

Like: Wonderfully energetic, sumptuous musical sound.

Dislike: Not the most forensically revealing at the price.

We say: A really impressive step-up for Q Acoustics, more of the same please.

Quite keen on these as well,so interested to hear opinions. I can't decide between 2020i or the concepts though. I would prefer to use my own stands so does anyone reckon the concepts would be worth the extra?

I managed to get a brief listen to these recently as well as the Q Acoustics 2050i floor standers. Listening conditions were not ideal and the music was unfamiliar.

The Concept 20's we're clearly superior in terms of mid and top end; with much more air/space around the instruments and vocals seemed more natural. The 2050i's had greater depth of bass as you would expect. They might be preferable for larger rooms; but for book shelf speakers; the Concept 20's were very impressive. I did hear them on their dedicated stands though and I don't know how much of a contribution (if any) they make to the overall sound.

You really need to hear both the Concept 20's and the 2020i's before deciding though; there is a big price difference between the two.

Almost my bedroom system; a DM38dab and a pair of 2020i (when they arrive.)

A pair of 2020i are currently in my main system, using Audio Acoustics K2s as stands; fed by a TEAC P30, Young DAC and Leben CS300. For £150 they're a steal.
