Just seen that there's a reissue of Captain Ganja and the Space Patrol by Tradition. Hooray, I've always wanted a copy but could never bring myself to shell out the £250-300 an original goes for.

Spacey Dub/jazz album from the very early 80s.

Cheers, have added to playlists and I’ll check out playlist on next hot day, with a BBQ and beer.

I’ll also add some of my favourite reggae monsters and slept-on songs to it as well.

Release date of 26th July for this new solo LP from trombonist Vin Gordon, one of the original Studio One session musicians and composer of one the greatest reggae rhythms "Heavenless" in 1968. Recorded old school analogue style by Al Breadwinner at the Bakery Studios in Manchester and if it's as good as Nat Birchall's "Sounds Almighty" from the same studio last year it'll be a monster.

Limited 10" ON-U Sounds extended mix of Makumba Rock from Lee Perry's latest Rainford LP plus the unreleased Heaven and Hell on the B side from the same Rainford sessions.

Just been repressed on 12" with Who No Waan Come by the Wailing Souls on the A side. Fantastic example of the Linval Thompson production sound from the early 80s.

Weirdly, ever so slightly disappointed by this. Thematically great but they’ve messed the bass up! Does anyone else think they could have gotten just as low and loud without over driving the bass guitar?

Interesting comment about the bass. It's not the heaviest reggae bass I've heard on my system (and I've got lots of reggae) but there's plenty enough for me. If anything I'd like Don Drummond's trombone to be a bit more forward in the mix as it gets lost in the dub effects sometimes. Also, my vinyl pressing is very noisy which is irritating when the Nat Birchall I mentioned in the OP is completely quiet.

If you've had to make do with the crappy Clocktower version as I have then Only Roots Records have done us a favour and released a good quality, fully licensed repress of the greatest dub LP of all time.

I love this album, but have never owned a copy on vinyl.

Very tempted...
