I have a Raspberry Pi with an Allo Boss DAC hat and use Volumio and Bubble UPNP to stream Tidal.

However, I really like the ease of Casting from my Chromecast Audio and being able to use Tidal through the Tidal App.

Does anyone know a successful way of doing the same with a R-Pi?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hi Bill, would you please describe your envisaged set-up path ?

What is meant by "my Chromecast Audio"

Hello Ronnie, hope you are well!

I have a Chromecast Audio that I just plug into my headphone amp via a 3.5mm jack to RCA cable. I really like the convenience of this and being able to stream what ever I like - Tidal, Amazon, Spotify etc.

On the other hand, I generally use a R-Pi/Boss and really like the sound quality from this and was hoping it was possible to be able to Cast to the Pi like I do to the CCA.

I think Volumio has a Bluetooth thingie, But I'm not sure which way it works.

If you try the above link, it should install alongside Volumio.

Make a back-up of your card first.

Also Volumio uses the Raspberry PI OS Lite and when I tried the method described in the link it was with Raspberry PI OS Desktop.

Coughin' better, thanks

Cheers Ronnie.

I've got another SD card on the way to try a few things out.

So what's Bluetooth like? Is it a big SQ compromise?

I think Moode may do Bluetooth.

I have had a quick go with Raspberry PI OS Lite and the link I mentioned.

I had to find another "instruction" link to set it up, but could not get it to work.

I hardly ever bother Bluetooth, so It's a bit of a learning curve for me.

Of to watch Le Tour, so may try later.

Bill, there is, or was, at least, Raspicast
This seems to use the Desktop Raspberry PI OS and an app for Android phone.
This means that it will not run alongside  Volumio
I don't know if it works on Buster best or Stretch.
In fact, I don't know if it works at all :S

I think both Moode and Volumio also offer Airplay.
One needs an apple device to play from I think.

Good point. It looks like PiCorePlayer would do the trick; it is LMS for raspberry pi.

That said, a £25 Chromecast Audio from My Memory might be the least hassle approach.
