  1. Here my new babes ... Now I have 2 pair of Solo and 1 Twin for my 3 way active setup. Even if they old amp, they outclass completely the Kinki Studio EX-B7 monoblock (I got one pair and got didn't keep them). I know, they not at all in the same price range but the fact is a good old amp still today a very good amp. I will post an update when I will install them in my audio rack. 8-)

  2. There certainly is a lot of speculation about details of which we do not know, and I include myself not knowing even being a dealer. Especially when we should have those details in a week and a half. I chalk this up to not having enough to do in COVID times. However, as to the casework look, the current Klimax design is now over 20 years old and a lot of people like new things. At least as important is that Linn is again dipping their toe into AV surround sound (the lack of Dolby Atmos and anything beyond 5.1 shows that they certainly aren't jumping in at the deep end). 6. Because they need to raise some funds for something else. Because they fancy a change to something different, but potentially as good. Because they're bored. Because they want something in a different finish. Because they've changed something else in the system and a different DAC would match better. Because they can. Because they're mad.

  9. True balanced has a greater overall signal strength, offers better signal to noise ratio and is inherently noise cancelling. In some situations it can offer a notable and audible improvment, in others, it won't make any difference. If you have the option, the costs are the same and both ends have balanced connection, then you may as well use it. It can't make anything worse and it may make things better. If not, then don't worry about it.

  11. A Clown with ASP (Audiophile Switch Phobia) asked Johannes for some proof on the SQ differences obtained with switches and their power supply. An iPhone recording would do. This is a recording of a live stream switch test done one month ago by Audio Alpha in The Netherlands. Audio Alpha is an audio website / forum but not a shop as such. They used just 2 tracks and on most occasions just one (Jacques Loussier, Little Fugue in G minor. A French pianist who arranged jazz interpretations of classic works, mostly Bach) The whole comparison is recorded in a lossless format, in - room, wi

  13. Its a hifi forum and switches are of interest to people with non-Linn equipment. Its cool that Linnies can possibly learn stuff from non-Linnies and vice versa.

  23. It was only recently, not going to mention the brand but each cable was £1000 so tried them individually on amp, phonostage and streamer and then all together. As it made no difference, I didn’t think it was worth posting about.

  25. Oh yes, some people are more into the novelty of getting new kit than the actual performance. After a while they need to try something else for a change perhaps.

  26. Asking for evidence does not make you a clown. It actually makes you a sensible individual and it is a shame more people don’t ask for that proof. If the device has a significant impact that proof should be demonstrable.

  29. How fecking lucky have i been, talk about winning a watch! Contacted Gato, the amp ive bought was used (its always been the way ive done things, bigger bang for your buck etc) Anyway they confirmed the amp still had warranty on till Nov (so its less than 2 yrs old 😊) and if i mailed them my deatils, serial number etc they would extend the warranty till 2024 wtf! What about that forback up support.

  30. As promised: I have installed the N8 & F1 duo: WOW. There is deeper bass, a stronger conveyance of richness. The sound stage is wider: on “You look good to me” by Oscar Peterson, the players seem farther apart than before. There is much quiet in the spaces between them. Their instruments are richer, finer, more robust. Overall, it sounds better, more “musical”, thus inducing toe-tapping. As well, Ane Braun’s rendition of “Halo” is richer. This recording has that old “tape hiss” to it. That hiss is much diminished 😳🙏 Primephonic streamed via the Sonos Port is now very much improved. Ever

  32. What I cannot understand is the kind of interference from people who don‘t own Linn equipment in a Linn subforum called „Linn Owners Club and Forum“. I don‘t think it was Paul’s intention to hear their meanings as he wrote his text about 300 posts before. He loves his new switch with power supply and I understand his enthusiasm, too. No one needs scientific instructions here, it‘s only about music and everybody has his own listening preferences and ability. But maybe some people are only interested in causing unrest. I hope I am wrong. I wish everyone a nice day and have fun with

  33. As an ex owner of Opals just thought I’d chime in and agree that they are fantastic speakers. My thoughts on the bass were exactly the same, as in “how the hell do they do that?”, the power and detail of the bass was jaw dropping. Like you, I had the treble turned down one notch. I was also impressed by the imaging, particularly the sense of depth, on the right track it would sound like the drummer was sat in next doors living room! I used the mic and measuring software to tune out a room node, but I found I didn’t like it if I made the bass response flat - a hump of a few db sounded bette

  39. I understand your desire to spend and get everything right from the get-go, but I would say hang fire for the moment. Although going ahead with pimping the Node would lift your current source to its max potential, & a pimped Node would be easy to sell on if you change your streaming solution. Get used to your new speakers, get yourself properly dialled in to their sound with the kit you have so you can decide what if any deficiencies there are that need to be rectified. Having then spent a couple of months familiarising yourself to the base sound of your system, the shops will be back

  41. I don't think there is a problem with Selekt as such. Those of us that have heard it seem to have enjoyed it. Its just that the majority of people on here (and this is a group of people that Selekt probably isn't aimed at) are already invested in separates - LK, Majik, Akurate and Klimax. As such, Selekt doesn't fit into their main systems either economically nor functionally (for example, a Selekt system hub is more expensive than an Akurate system hub and doesn't fit well on a rack with other Akurate components). Nothing to do with Selekt itself, but more to do with the existing "star
