  2. No change to my kit, but I bought a painting yesterday and moving the other artworks around - so must qualify for some updated pix on here And looking back the the listening chair itself. The rowing machine is used each morning, so justifies its place and the slidey seat is good for selecting the records along the wall! edit; just realised that in the mirror you get a sneaky peak of the acoustic panels on the ceiling. Most of the art also has wadding inserted into the frames, so also doubles up as absorbers.

  3. As my whole system has been in storage for a (still) pending house move, since just before this topic was started, I've been waiting to get some images from a new listening position in a new environment before participating. Still no sign of a completion date, so that clearly isn't going to happen anytime soon, but I have managed to find a picture of the system that was taken from the couch back in April. Yet another pair of LV's I'm afraid, so nothing groundbreaking, unsurprisingly not the first set featured that are partnered with 300b's either. It all went a bit wrong aesthetically when I purchased the Kuzma: Originally the TT was on a wall shelf to the left of the chimney breast, but that was removed and the turntable plonked on the floor (temporarily) due to its excessive weight (way too much for the shelf). Once I have my beloved system back up running in its new spot I'll post another pic - Don't hold your breath though...

  4. Been playing with solid state last 6 months since I moved into this new house. Finally got my shindo out… I’ve forgotten how magical 300B SET can be

  5. After 59 pages you've probably all had enough pictures, and being a pretty simple system mine is unlikely to get anyone terribly excited, but here it anyway Phone camera is set to wide angle to squeeze it all in so it makes the speakers (Lancasters) look a bit stretched and the room is not as quite as big as it looks! The rest of the gear is a kel84 xl, Sony cdp 337esd, Denon dab tuner, and a Walker CJ55 tt (not currently in use due to lack of phono stage!).

  6. I was browsing through some old photographs on a memory stick tonight & I came across this photo of Joolz at his home when he had his last bake off. I thought as it captured his mischievous nature it would be fitting to post it here. RIP Joolz.

  7. One step further today. Bit of a relapse with health from my illness a few years back, anyway, comes and goes. Today, wasn’t feeling great and my Mrs pretty much locked me in my music room and said take the day off bit of a dream for most eh lol. Anyway, light dinner was brought up. I consider myself lucky in music and choice of women

  9. Ok, here’s my room, Christmas tree has meant the speakers aren’t in their normal position, they’re normally further apart and further into the room. Albums are all hiding in the unit.

  10. Sat here again. The room is a mess, and yes that new DAC is a health hazard. But there you go

  11. Having been skillfully dispossessed of my ATC SCM100ASLs by Tackleberry of this parish, I thought I'd just nip out and get some stop gap speakers, Harbeth SHL5. And some of Joe Henry's excellent Aleph 3 clone amps. I'm surprised how little I'm giving up to the old ATCs - obviously some visceral impact at high volumes, but that's it. I like them.

  14. Now back in Portugal and my view from the listening seat is slightly more Christmassy. There was no way the tree was going anywhere near the speakers!

  15. Not ideal, too close to the side wall and generally cramped. Just got a bigger TV and have decided to swap to the opposite wall next year. Will get the rack closer to the middle of the room and give the speakers more room and distance apart. Table next to speaker is temporary to help Mrs BB work form home, new office space is going upstairs next year too. Cheers BB

  16. It has been a busy year for me. After years of no changes to the system I have made quite a few purchases whilst enjoying lots of new music. Here are the bullet points: Started the year upgrading my TT with Pete's Pylons and acrylic armboard from True Point These brought a marked enhancement as I revisited my Led Zep vinyl collection in chronological order whilst reading the excellent book I got for xmas "When Giants Walked the Earth: A Biography of Led Zeppelin by Mick Wall. Very soon after this I dipped a toe into streaming with the purchase of a Bluesound Node 2i with the promise to Mrs Classik that I would not need to purchase any more physical music media! Having got the streaming bug, a few weeks later I acquired a Fidelity Audio LPSU and interface which cemented my new found world of internet music, using Tidal as my service provider. Now I was well and truly into the upgrade groove and the next swap was a Temple Audio Bantam One for my ageing Plinius set up. This little marvel provides all the power I need and runs so cool you hardly know it is on, unlike the Plinius that must have melted a whole iceberg during its lifetime! Around this time I purchased a couple of new valves from Guy at Puresound for my P10 And then it was summer (sort of) and after riding my bike, caravanning and doing other outdoors activities the start of winter allowed me to focus on the next piece of the upgrade puzzle. I'd been watching the classifieds for DAC's for ages but didn't know what to go for so I had a home demo/loan of a Soncoz SGd1 from Purite but when that didn't quite hit the spot I took the plunge and bought a secondhand Chord Mojo, which will be in my system for as long as it takes me to save up for a Qutest. I really like what this contributes to my musical life. What it does is make me want to switch my system on and listen to music, which is surely the entire purpose of this mad hobby! Finally as I do a lot of my listening later into the evenings and due to the fact that I live in semi with a wife who has supersonic earsight but no taste in music headphones are vital so I got my self a nice pair of Oppo PM3’s off ebay. So, there you have it. My musical adventures for the year. During the last 12 months I have discovered early Genesis (which did result in me breaking the promise and buying two CD's, oops!), lots of new to me music from artists as diverse as Tool and Little Simz. Now for a few days off work during which I may get a chance to listen to a few tunes while I plot the next batch of upgrades - maybe a sub or dac - who knows! At any rate it's been fun and wouldn't have been possible without the help & advice and quest for improvement that this fab forum provides. Welcome back Danny. PS forgot to include the Pete's Pads upgrade in June

  17. Well here goes my picture.... Camera is set to wide so perspective is rather weird. I've just bought the Thivan Fullrange 10 speakers over Christmas and they are running in nicely. I'm so impressed with the Thivan range I bought their Swan 211 integrated amp yesterday. Really looking forward to hearing it when it arrives. Unfortunately the hifi goodies are out of shot to my side. Enjoy.

  18. Most stuff was mounted from the walls on steel rods. Each rod had a drilled and tapped hole/s that accepted a threaded spike so that the shelf they supported could be levelled. Looking forward to getting into the new house and see what absolute madness I can come up with for for in there

  29. Truly sorry to hear Dicy, I bought the Chomecast from you, really happy for you to keep it and just refund me if that helps keep you in tunes. Just message me, Cheers, Ian. Edit: Or I can post it back - don't feel you need to honour the sale at all, I've got plenty of music here . Seriously, do it !

  31. Why on earth start yet another one of these utterly pointless threads? What possible use do they serve? I can’t afford to buy a Bugatti car and neither do I particularly want one, but it doesn’t bother me in the slightest that such cars exist. And neither do I care in the slightest about these cables.

  35. Still lurking....good to see some of the old faithful names I remember! Spent a few quid last year on more/additional green boxes. My next itch, which will be scratched is some LS3/5a's I think. An addiction i've never lost, and well I think I just need to own some...

  42. Made the ultimate sacrifice this year by selling all my high end components (apart from my turntable) to help fund an extension when costs spiralled upwards. Out went Wilson WP7, (and then their replacement Focal 1028), Esoteric CO3 pre, Plinius SA103 and all my Transparent and Shunyata cables. Replaced by Cayin valve pre, Yamaha P3500s studio power amp (Star of the show £200 off Ebay) and Usher 6371 speakers and I have to be totally honest ........the pride I have now when listening is off the scale. It just shows you do not need to spend thousands to have a decent sound. Beautiful high end kit but don't really have a big enough room to do it all justice. Pic attached of my system (and new extension!!)
