  1. Had a little look, funds need to be accumulated first....and blind buying, which has led me to my current predicament Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Sorry, missed your question....the answer is yes unfortunately Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. That is the plan to place at power amp inputs, as I have vinyl and streamer to preamp[emoji1360] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Alas, soldering skills are not my forte[emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. That is the plan as funds slow, I note Lavardin power amps are rated around 40w, and their preamps are said to go well with vintage valves......so this is the upgrade I will be searching for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Having had look at your suggestion of using RCA to XLR, which is a reasoned solution....I am going to progress the road more travelled, and see if anyone has a set of -20 attenuators RCA. One last question, does it matter which end you fit attenuators, preamp end or going into power amp? Many thanks for all your input[emoji120] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks, that makes it clearer to work out attenuators Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. In order to reduce box count & improve on the sound of my Sonos[emoji35], I bought a Cambridge Azur 851N, which can be used as a preamp! I am currently using in this mode, but it doesn’t sound as good as using dedicated preamp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks for the advice, reassurance that it’s a solvable issue. Interestingly , you observed that sound improved as you were able to use the preamp volume at a more optimal level. The advice on level of attenuation from forum members differs between-10 to-20, with the bulk of advice leaning towards -20. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Whoops..didn’t look at link, as I didn’t realise you can connect RCA to XLR!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks for your response, hadn’t thought of which end to place? Is it recommended to place at preamp output or power input? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I did use xlr on original Cyrus pre to monos, but Lavardin pre amp is RCA only.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Can’t see, how to derive the correct attenuators from the specs, good job there are more technically minded members on the WAM[emoji2957] Should I be looking for 20 dB attenuators in this case? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Cheers, having had a look at the specs for both, I’m not sure what figures to use Help appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks for your input, I have read some reviews of attenuators, that criticise the effect on sound as the trade off. So I am interested in peoples views, and how much do you attenuate -10 or -20 ? Which attenuators Rothwell or Goldenjacks? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
