  1. Apologies for the tardy response, Whilst not perfect, it is certainly an improvement. The sense of opened soundstage is impressive. Bass is not as boomy, layering is improved with space around instruments and vocals Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I had tried the system in two other places, but everything was compromised...speakers seating etcI have been living with the new setup now for a few days, and feel that there are significant improvements to the sound. Even visually it looks beautiful out of the alcove!! I know it’s not perfect in terms of separation of speakers and equally distant to listening position, however I do move my chair and toe in accordingly to achieve improved imaging. I need to have a cool off period, and enjoy the characteristics of the improvements, before considering any further changes. If I make any changes, they will be subtle i.e. swap out the 12ax7’s for some jj gold pin, after all you play around a little bit[emoji6][emoji2] PS:- The rug has also helped with removing unwanted reflections Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I did try it on either side of the fireplace, but the speakers were almost up against chair and couch. This is the best position, and even in an offset seat the system sounds better. It sounds airier, soundstage has opened up and it has lost the booming base. In the long term I am tempted to get a smaller speaker. A rug has been ordered...so will see what that will change. 5. And looking towards the previous position Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. After some different locations, I swapped to one of the long walls[emoji28] The speakers are 1.2 meters apart and 35 cm from rear wall. Still some compromises, but will have to listen and tweak as appropriate. Many thanks for all your advice..... Despite some marital disharmony, which should resolve with counselling and support [emoji23] My wife has finally got her wish for having a rug on the floor. I will park my upgraditis for the moment while I evaluate the new setup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Additionally this is the wall the kit is on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. The room dimensions are 3.5 meters wide x 6.8 meters long, and as you can see the speakers are positioned close together on the short wall. In fairness, I knew I would be in for a bit of rinsing for my setup positioning. I know it is less than ideal, so was fearful of posting pictures, that said I am glad to have the advice as I have huge aspirations to try and tweak the most from the kit and the room. 10. Many thanks to all, I will reset my parameters in looking for an upgrade path for my speakers. I do want to build on the texture of the midrange the S6 offers. Any thoughts on Opera speakers, which are recommended as a natural partner for Unison Research, not least as they are manufactured by the same company. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. This is my setup with restrictions Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks for your input, looks like I need to do a lot more research. Not a problem really as I have kit to move on in order to fund improvements. I will do as you and others have suggested and start collating a long list. Interestingly the Heresys appear to garner admiration or loathing in equal measure, but of a marmite speaker. I will post a picture of my layout to demonstrate the restrictions on placement! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Not [emoji385] are they, the PMC, they do seem to be an option. I see some caution in reviews regarding pairing based on the sensitivity...if the S6 has enough juice, will have to do further reading. You are right in regards of the texture and clarity of midrange, a word away from my original Cyrus setup, that I hoped could be transformed by the Lavardin. Unfortunately this only tweaked the sound slightly!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
