  1. I just wanted to update everyone regarding next years show announcement. The dates are booked of course but I will be waiting a while for the release of any further info until nearer the time due to the Covid restrictions on groups etc. Hope everyone understands. Many thanks. My thoughts are that more and more are arriving on the Friday anyway now so those who wish to set up can. In addition, I also think that a 'casual Saturday' is also a good idea so there is no stress to make it a definite two day show (I could for example put all the two day exhibitors) on one floor so that at least full weekend visitors weren't searching room by room. I could also look to discount things slightly for those wishing to come for the two day exhibiting bonanza. As soon as we get the go ahead I will organise everything and decide how best to please everyone.......(as much as possible). Keep posting your thoughts as I believe the more info I have the easier it will be to put together the right format for everyone.
  2. My sincere apologies as we are snowed under with the hotel and pubs and only just been notified by one of the mods re this. Firstly, the show will go ahead next year on the 20/21 March 2021 (if we are of course allowed to re Covid) Secondly and most importantly, everyone's money for the rooms is completely safe and will roll over to the next event or be returned immediately if that is what everyone wants. I set up a thread with the mods recently to say that I had organised the dates and was everyone agreed that it should be the weekend 'after' Mothering Sunday. I had simply no idea this thread was causing so much issue, so for that I apologise and hope this clears everything up. Please contact me immediately via PM if you wish to have a full refund. Peter
  3. After last year there are some things that need changing/making better/streamlining so please note: Saturday Evening Food After working so well at our first year at Scalford I have decided to organise a hot buffet meal for all exhibitors on Saturday night. (Last year the food and service wasn't up to standard so I am hoping that this system will be much better for all of us. Not compulsory of course. Beef Lasagne Chicken Curry | Rice | Naan Steak and Ale Pie Vegetarian Pie Garlic Bread | Chips Served from 6.30 - 8.30pm at £10.95 per person Saturday 11am - 2pm Bacon and Sausage Baps available at £3.50 Filter tea/coffee is £1 | Espresso machine coffee is £2.50 upwards depending on type required. FRIDAY ARRIVALS Only the Big Gun rooms of Hathern, Lockington and Ashby can be used from 2.30pm (no music to be played but kit moved in is possible) Kingston is occupied until 5.30pm SATURDAY ARRIVALS AND FURNITURE MOVING VERY IMPORTANT - for the last two years we have now nearly lost the hotel due to their biggest issue with the event. Exhibitors moving furniture and not putting it back after the show and just leaving the rooms empty. This year everyone must label each piece of furniture they remove and store. If the rooms are not complete with the right furniture each room will be charged £50 penalty. Simply take some stickies and mark your name and room number on each piece of furniture that is taken out of your room. Take a photo before and after if necessary to show reception on checkout. EXTRA CHARGES TO ROOMS Last year after the show I had a bill for £1,500 I had to find to pay for extras that people had, charged to their rooms and left the hotel without settling. The best way to eradicate this is that everyone pays there and then for what they have. The hotel knows that this year there are NO ROOM CHARGES ALLOWED. Please help me to make sure these things happen and we continue to use this great location for many years to come.
  4. I am very pleased to announce that one of our members 'dari' - Darius will be present taking some memorable shots for us at this years WAM2020 show. " I have attended last year Wigwam Show for the first time and it was a great pleasure to see audio enthusiasts from all over the country. In places like this, one can appreciate how serious people are about the hobby. Initially, I have put my name down for the 2020 show but then realised I could spend the three days at the show in another way. My other passion is documentary photography. I have secured a place at the BA Hons Photography course at Staffordshire University. I have worked on various projects past few years but never thought I could try to capture this hobby of mine and so many other fellow enthusiasts. Wigwam show seems to be a perfect place for that: from preparations/ setting up the rooms to the actual show and everything around it. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and will introduce myself and ask if everyone is okay with me taking photographs before I take any. I am happy for this to take place as long as everyone gives their okay to Darius on the day, plus that all photographs are WAM copyright, with the exception that he is allowed to use them for his university degree, but not to use, sell or publish without my express consent.
  5. I will be launching the 'room only' requests thread this evening.

I would like to have my room (104) on Sunday night also, but not sure who I should be asking, or where my question should be posted. Also don't know if my name is down for the curry night. I'll put a sleeping bag and Pot Noodle in my van just in case ;-)

  9. It's too many different prices. Choose one price, its for charity.
  10. Great idea. Let's do £1 per clean to charity which is:
  11. Thank you George for the note above on here and PFM.....they have been busy. I fully understand the need for information and everything will be ready on Saturday 1st Feb. The show was a sell out not long after last years event which was a huge success and we have plenty of time to make sure all rooms are allocated properly and the BIG Systems are given the correct space. It is and will remain the most unique event of its kind anywhere in the world, showcasing the best of hifi sound by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. It's trademark, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where friends get together and play immense music through amazing systems. The reason why I have put both Saturday and Sunday is that we have an increasing amount of visitors who want to come and see/listen to the set up (which we all agree is the fun day.....night!!) Some of you even make it a three day event, well why not? I believe in flexibility and as I book the hotel for two full days, there is availability on the Friday too and more are enquiring every year. As per last year no tickets are issued, you simply turn up and pay at the door and as ever there is FREE PARKING. Payment for rooms etc. as per last year will be via BACS and the spreadsheet which along with an updated site will be available on Saturday 1st Feb Friday 13th - Turn up and have a great dinner and a few beers with the early doors crowd, book through me via PM Saturday 14th - Set up, help with lifting gear, have a few beers, watch the rugby, listen to some great sounds, food and banter (Open to anyone who pays Sundays entrance fee if not exhibiting) Sunday 15th - Open to the public, massive sell out event, then for our fantastic traditional curry (may need a bigger restaurant this year). Monday 16th - Pack up and drive safely home Hope that satisfies the grumpy old farts!! Can't quite believe (however I should know by now) all the negativity created by leaving it till now to get started. It means that its considered the most important event and that by leaving it to announce its already created a buzz. Long live The Wam. PS. Writing this while on morphine as just had one knee replaced and the other a half knee inserted yesterday.
  12. How do I limit my  search to the Linn Owners Club and Forum?

The drop down box in the main search engine does not show this forum (or others)

  13. The best wishes of The Wam go to Nadia and family at this difficult time. Any character assessments or unsavoury comments will not be tolerated on this forum and deleted immediately. Rest In Peace - Rachel and Peter
