  1. I don’t see why Adam, others have mentioned pre/power amps here. The Nak turn tables where awesome beasts.
  2. A while ago I got a Nakamichi BX-300E and liked it but wanted to give a good service, which has now been done. I still have a few hundred cassettes from back in the day, a lot of which are studio copies of sessions from Tin Pan Alley, Hollywood, Village Way Recorders and others. I also have many radio promo tapes from back in the day. Playing through some I just found a studio tape of Hugh Cornwell and one from TPA of Pete Townshend. This is a really bloody good deck, pulling out amazing detail. Just recorded a TDK MA, one of my few remaining new ones. The source is a 15ips master of Gail Ann Dorsey’s first UK band 20TO and the sound is bloody out of this world. I also made a 192/24 .wav using a Focusrite Pro24 and Reaper and the digital is just lifeless in comparison. I really love the build quality of real Nakamichi kit from before it became a lifestyle brand for Chinese crap.
  3. Hi All, I'm working on a promo video for Art Audio. Are there any users on here who would like to be interviewed about their kit. Looking for the oldest Art amp still in use too. If you don't want to be on camera I would like to shoot footage and stills of any kit that is out there. Any help would be appreciated Cheers Doc

  5. The point is it does exist which is why we want to show it. As for your other points this is broadly part of the plan.
  6. This is where, I hope, our expertise comes in. It’s about pitching to the right audience, no point in making a doc or wringing a feature on the plight of the Syrian refugees and pitching at Syrian refugees, they know what their problems are. Likewise, this has to appeal to people outside of our community. I can’t say more as I don’t want to give the angle away.
  7. Hi Pete, Thanks for that, I’ve contacted Sara, just waiting for her to hopefully get back to me. BTW also looking for someone with a vintage or otherwise restored system to talk about a passion for keeping old things going.
  8. Hi Sara,

I don’t know if you have seen the post, but my company is making a documentary on the audio industry and the enthusiasts and professionals who recycle and make, rather than throw away and buy new. We’re trying to get a more diverse content, so we are looking for women audiophiles to take part. If you are interested, give me a shout.

    Cheers

  9. So far the’re is I will grant you a lot of white men in the project. I don’t know, or care, what their sexuality is as it has no relevance to the project. We have an ethnic diversity, but I see women at hifi events, and want to encourage people to enjoy this hobby. As for 5 minutes content in a 30 minute slot, you don’t know what we do, so I don’t know how you can judge. But I will say I have a shelf full of awards for news and documentary photography plus over 4 decades of experience in the field, so I think you should see it before you judge. Cheers
  10. Hi All, Some on here already know that my company, Paul Stewart Media has a number of documentaries in development. One which I want mention here is about ending the throw away society and is using the audiophile community as a shining example of how some people will fix and reuse good kit even if it comes from the local tip, (see my Leak Sterofetic for a prime example) and not just 'cos they are tight buggers. I'm keen to reflect diversity in the project so I'm wondering if we have any female audiophiles or vintage audio fans on here, who would be interested in taking part in the project. If so please PM me. I'm putting this on a ferw forums in the hope of a result.
  11. Well I’ve decided to part with my Art Audio Quintet as I have the stunning Art Audio Velocè monoblocs and I’m short of room. I will have it at the February Audio Jumble if anyone is interested.
  12. When I had my Orbe SE, I used it with an SME IV with the damping trough. I used this as I use Koetsu cartridges and find they wotk best with static balance arm, rather than spring pressure ones. Here's a picture of the beast. I still use this arm/cart combo on my Art Audio Composer
  13. a few years ago I had a long talk with Brian Mortimer of former chief engineer of Garrard about bearing oil and in particular the oil that was specially developed by Esso for use in the oil bearing 301s and 401s. He told me that this oil was formulated so that when properly set up there would be a film of oil between the bearing parts, with no actual metal to metal contact. It's a proprietary formula but very simple, a mineral oil and just some rust inhibitor. This stuff is still available from Loricraft and I have used it in Regas, Linns, Michells etc., and its the best I have ever used.
  14. I still use my BDP-83 with the Russ Andrews mods. I sent it back to OPPO for a service and firmware upgrade and it's the best silver disc and file player I have and I have quite a few. Such a shame they are ending hardware production.
