  1. It is very good news. Every addition of a well-known streaming service with lossless CD quality or higher is good news. Tidal HiFi is now 9,98 €/month and Deezer HiFi even less, 8,99 €/month. With lower prices and improved availability, more people will be ready to pay and it should be better for music artists eventually. (when these things get better regulated) I am using Deezer and Tidal HiFi for about two months and I am thrilled with the quality and quantity of music that I can reach with the touch of my finger. Listening to artist's whole albums is my preferred way of listening an
  2. How much difference or less accurate SO could be expected because of the non-exakt system and using SO vs SO+? Could exakt be decisive part in perception of SO sound?
  3. Is this really can be done? New main PCB from 2018, I suppose?
  4. Today, out of curiosity, I did a recalculation of SO2 with no change in parameters, and the resulting profile is different. My previous calculation was 23.09.2020. and there was no change in the algorithm version, it is still 3.0.1. New calculation brings some changes in sound for my ears. The sound is cleaner and more energetic. Old profile sounds more muffled in comparison.
  5. Problem solved. It turned out that Windows upgrade to 10 is free from Microsoft site if installed Windows 7 is activated. Tidal FLAC 44.1 kHz/16 bit is significantly better when streaming direct to DSM than through the computer audio and the Songcast app.
  6. I am using Tidal for Windows and then through Linn Songcast app stream back to DSM but this part of streaming through a computer is what I would like to avoid. I would like a stream to go directly from the internet to DSM.
  7. I just found out that I can subscribe for Tidal and I happily did it for a one-month free trial but of course a new problem arose. I am using an older Thinkpad L440 Laptop with windows 7 that is still fine for my private use and it seems that I cannot use Tidal from the Internet straight to the DSM because I need new versions of the Kazoo server and Kazoo app and this requires Windows 8 or up. Is there any other way to use Tidal from the Internet straight to the DSM with Windows 7 (other music server and control app maybe?) or Windows upgrade is my only solution?
  8. Thanks for sharing. The difference between Klimax Exakt DSM (2013 Variant) and Klimax Exakt DSM (2016 Variant) should be only HDMI 2.0 and in Klimax System Hub (2018 Variant) there is a new PCB version. So, the expected difference in sound between the first two variants should be minimal if any, and if one does not need HDMI 2.0 the 2013 Variant is probably a better SH buy because prices should be somewhat more affordable.
  9. Selekt DSM with no cartridges, Akurate system hub (2018 Variant), Klimax Exakt DSM (2013 Variant) How would you rank these three system hubs and which would be your choice as an upgrade step from AEDSM (2014 Variant)? Is the Klimax hub of any version still significantly better than the last version of Akurate or Select?
  10. Is there a better way besides forwarding through SONGCAST for streaming services with no native support in DSM? Deezer HiFi FLAC through SONGCAST is very good for my ears but I am not sure if there is no quality loss because of streaming that way.
  11. When streaming Deezer HiFi FLAC content I use SONGCAST to forward it to DSM and in Kazoo stream information is PCM 44,1kHz/16bits 1411 kbps. FLAC is converted to PCM and send to DSM or is this only false information?
  12. Interesting review of EE 8Switch with technical details about the inside of the switch and comparison to Silent Angel Bonn N8 (because they are almost identical) and some other switches author is familiar with. In my opinion, the author is pretty down-to-earth in explaining his thoughts and experiance about the theme.
  13. Can somebody check and post here board types for Akurate System Hub from Konfig, please? Are there new circuit board versions in Hub? This is board types from my /0 version of AEDSM.
  14. There is a passthrough Exaktbox filter for surround but I am not sure if this can be used in this kind of configuration with only two channel of amplification.
  15. How sensitive/expensive multi-meter need to be to measure voltage differences to earth between two different plug orientations? Any suggestions?
  16. So this is a normal situation then. Must say, not something I expected on 6k euro worth amplifier. Amp on the first picture is actually also with dynamik PSU but Linn probably decides to save also on this nice engraving on PSU shielding.
  17. On newer 4200/1 (2016) the right side of the enclosure has cut out and some older one does not have this. This is normal I hope, and not some modification went wrong. But I can't see the reason for this.
  18. Does anyone use the Oehlbach polarity checker? In manual says it should be measured with the power switch on but I have some meaningful readings (different LED lit up when turning plug for 180) only when the power switch is off. When the power switch is on always the same LED is lit up when turning the plug for 180. I tried with enclosed earth cable between Checker and the earth of the device and the result is the same.
  19. Could it be PSU problem similar to power up delay with Akurate amps?
  20. Are there any fresh experiences with sending and receiving used Linn equipment from EU to UK? I suppose VAT should be paid in both directions?
  21. Speaker placement is the most crucial thing for me and in my experience, it must be done to 1 cm precision to make the system sound right. Especially distance to wall behind speakers. For my Akudiroks in my room (4,5 m x 4 m) it is 36 cm. Speakers are parallel to the wall because I prefer the dispersed sound. And speakers in this position sounds best regardless of the listening position. From my perspective the characteristic of sound when speakers are in the sweet spot is great clarity through all frequency spectrum. Bass can be overblown because it is done without SO but middle an
  22. The listening position is not an important parameter for me. Maybe because I do not do "critical listening". Every listening counts for me and if system doesn't sound right, it is not right at any listening position and if I like it, I like it at any listening position. I am always confused with statements about soundstage, positioning instruments on stage, the air around the instruments, etc. These things don't have importance to me when enjoying the music so probably that explains my view on that subject.
